Obviously I purchased this to aerate my front and back yards. Works very well, but only on smaller yards. I have a very small front yard but a larger back yard and it was very hard and time consuming (be prepared to spend a good half hour, even on a smaller yard) on the backyard. That being said, its actually very easy to use and no aerating clods to clean up afterwards! The product itself is made very well, with the spikes being welded to the bottom piece. The instructions say to use your foot to push the spikes into the ground but the best way is to ram it into the ground. Overall I'd recommend to those who want like doing yard work and want to save money on paying someone to create for you.

I have a typical lawn in S. FL that is basically sod laid over rough crushed limestone rocks. Trying to dig into the ground here is nearly impossible without power equipment because of all the rock just inches below the surface. So I was expecting this tool to get bent/broken after repeatedly hitting rock under the surface of the soil, but it held up perfectly despite repeatedly hitting rock. I aerated my entire front yard with it over the course of a couple hours. The finish on it is very thick, and looks like it will hold up a long time. My only complaint, and it's one I have with a lot of yard tools, is the handle is short - for me. I'm 6'4" so using this required me to constantly bend over, which results in back discomfort after a length of time. But like I said, I have that problem with rakes, shovels, brooms, and so on.

I read some of the reviews here but I thought it was nice and worked well. For one, I used it a LOT. I personally thought the metal was just fine and it was heavy and did not bend at all.When I step on it, I stepped so the fork went straight into the dirt and back out straight. I did not wiggle it. It made clean holes and did not dig up my lawn a bit.It was not heavy in that my mother who is 70 years old had no problem doing this for an hour. I am 40 though and after several hours, trust me, I felt it the next day. I did feel it in my leg and my hip and I did have to tug at times to pull it back out of the ground, so I felt it in my arms too. No, I'm not in the best shape physically, but I do go to the gym 4x a week, so, it was a bit of a workout for me. It would be better not to use this on a very large lawn.

This thing is very well made. It’s perfect for spike aerating a small yard entirely or for certain spots of a big yard. My yard is fairly big and it would take a couple of days to do the whole yard with this. But I did use it for a couple of problem areas that I have and it worked beautifully! It leaves sufficient enough holes in the soil for seed, fert and water to get in to for sure. Definitely a tool worth having in the garage. Glad I have it!

This tool worked great in my small front yard, took me about 30 minutes to complete a small section of maybe 10x25 feet. It feels pretty solid when you use it, and none of the spikes bent or broke when I used it. The handle has some padding on it so I did not use gloves and I got a blister in the palm of my hands, so use gloves! The powder coating came off of the prongs on my first use, so that is pretty useless down there. I am just going to keep it oiled up so it does not rust. This worked for me a whole lot better than the coring style aerator that got bent and clogged up after about 2 insertions.

It is nice to be able to aerate areas of concern for reseeding. The prongs are a bit thinner than expected. The workability aerating was easy, but the holes were like pin holes. Some folks don't want large holes on their property. I can't blame them. I just hope it provides air enough through the pin holes and proper seed growth.

We purchased this tool hoping to help our lawn look like a lawn again. Our lawn is uneven so when we water it just rolls off and doesn’t stay on the grass. We have never had nice green grass UNTIL THIS TOOL😀! We knew it would help but we didn’t know how amazing this tool really was! After using it only one time there was a big difference after watering. Now, after only a few uses, our grass is green😃. So happy with this product! Just poking the holes in the worst areas and watering will change your lawn. We swear by it! Yes, it will take a little effort to do it, but it isn’t hard to do. It just takes time to go over the whole area but it is worth it!

Works exactly as advertised. I have hard clay soil that is somewhat compacted. I was able to step on this and it went into the ground easily when soil was a little dam. It might be tougher to use on super dry clay soil, but haven't tried that. Spikes have a slight tendency to collect a little dirt/mud but just remove it every once and a while as you go along and it's no trouble. Would have preferred a slightly longer handle, but that's a minor issue. Have used only once thus far, but seems to be durable and well constructed.

Easy to use, does what it's supposed to do, I suggest wearing gloves though, I ended up with blisters on my hands, mind you.. I have a large lawn that I used this on and it took a few hours.

Easy to use if you want aerate your lawn and your lawn size is not too much. Aerated mine a days after a rainy day in spring and it was easy and quick. The tool is well made and could last a long time. The handles are easy to hold on to and height of the tool was perfect for me (6 feet)
