Incomplete small recipe book for making pasta
I like that the author has given many ideas for different gourmet pastas and some sauces. The recipes are listed for hand crank machines and electric extruding machines. While the author stipulates one should follow precise manufacturer guidelines for the electrics her recipes do not say which electrics she formulated the recipes for. The author wrote in the book that she would get into the various electrics out there but failed to do so in the book. I was looking for a recipe using powdered porcini mushroom to flavor the pasta but it seems to be the one flavor the author left out. The book has limited application for electrics due to the omission and a relevence point to compare the electric recipe to your particular model. Three stars for imaginative flavor ideas for pasta. It would have been five if the author fixed the omissions.

Just What I was Looking For!
I absolutely love this cookbook! (revised edition from 2005) My big excitement is finding recipes for so many different types of grains! In my quest to learn more about various grains, I stopped in book stores, health food stores, etc. and found nothing, but this book is jam packed with over 100 pasta recipes in addition to several "regular" types of pasta. It has some recipes that include such ingredients as Spelt, amaranth, quinoa, kamut, corn, oat, buckwheat, garbanzo, rice, soy, etc., and various herb, vegetable and fruit pastas. (I'll be able to grind the grains to make my own flour with my Vitamix!) There are hints for finding ingredients, making, cooking and serving pasta. In addition to that, each and every recipe has its own specific tips and serving suggestions and lists ingredient amounts needed for both hand crank and extruder method versions. Each also lists the calories, grams of protein, carbs, fat and sodium per 1 cup serving. There are also recipes for sauces, topping and fillings. The only criticism I have for this book is that its missing the grams of fiber quantities per serving (would have been nice to know, but also useful to help calculate points for my weight watcher's diet) and it didn't have info on drying or freezing tips for pasta (none of the other pasta books I found did either) which would have been nice. I can't fault the book for these two details as it has far more info than the other pasta books I found. Plus, the cost of this book is like half the price of the others, making it a great value. I highly recommend this book with great enthusiasm and thank the author for making it!

THE PASTA MACHINE COOKBOOK-Donna Rathmell German
I am totally satisfied with my purchase of THE PASTA MACHINE COOKBOOK. In the forward it discusses that most pasta cookbooks discuss mostly sauces, and not the pasta itself. This book is a departure from that. It is quite comprehensive in that about 125 pages are dedicated to pasta and only about 25 to sauces. It is of normal paperback construction. It measures 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" by 1/2". I would say for the price that the quality is about what you would expect as far as its construction is concerned. It has basic information on pasta making and good tips. That is the first 20 pages of the volume. Total pages is 155. Great variety of recipes. Also, it discusses using "Extruder" pasta machines in addition to hand/electric roller type machines. As usual Amazon.com delivered it right on time.

Great Find!
Great beginner book. I've just began learning to make my own pasta and this book has been a huge help as I've found it difficult to find much for a manual pasta machine. This book has simple to understand recipes that doesn't require to you to search out difficult to find flours if you don't live near ethnic stores. So great find, especially for the price. I use it often.

Decent Pasta Recipe book.
While it gives you many actual pasta recipes, I wasn't very happy with the basic recipes... they call for "all semolina" flour. The recipes on the sides of the semolina flour even say to use half semolina and half regular... However, I bought it because reviews of other books said they were dissappointed because they had very few pasta recipes and were more sauce recipes. This is definitely a PASTA recipe book. I think there were only 3 pages at the end with sauces. I look forward to trying out the odd pasta recipes with other items in it.

lots of dough recipes, but not meal
Buy it if you want to make 50 different pastas, but not if you want a recipe for dinner.

Yum, yum, yum!
The instructions that come with most pasta makers are usually worse than useless. Get this book and you will never run out of yummy recipes to get the best use out of your machine. The dual recipes for handmade vs extruders is very helpful. I'm a big fan of Donna Rathmell German; I've got many of her handy little book (three bread machine, the pasta, and the pizza one). You can't go wrong here.

The Pasta Machine cookbook
This was the most disappointing item that I have ever purchased via Amazon and in my opinion was extremely overpriced. I thought that the recipes were poor, the paper cheap and the overall appearance of the book dull and unexciting.

This book is very educational in the art of home made pasta. It is a book to retain in a home cookery reference library.

Too simplified
I've only given this book a three star rating because all of the recipes are basically the same and there was very little instruction on how to use the pasta machine.
