Basic Scenery for Model Railroaders, Second Edition (Model Railroader Books: Essentials) Paperback – Box set, July 1, 2014

Model railroad scenery books is a pretty crowded field; when you've got to compete with Frary's classic, not to mention the booming YouTube business of guys like Luke Towan, you've gotta do something pretty special to get noticed. This is a nice book. I don't know that it really stands alone; it's probably best for someone who's got SOME experience with scenery, and maybe another book or two, but it also offers a few new tricks, tips and techniques. And, of course, it's got lots of great model railroad scenic photography.

Much of the information is dated, better scene making supplies are available today yet aren’t reflected in this book. Not a waste of money, but will think twice before buying other how-to books on making scenery for model railroads and dioramas. I think better and more information is available on the Internet.

It is a well written book, geared for a little more experienced scenery maker than me. The pictures are very helpful. I plan on trying my first project tomorrow,

My husband bought this to get inspiration for his train layout platform. He is very pleased with this book. It offers a lot of ideas about landscaping as well as how to make trees, etc. from different items you can find in your backyard.

I will make good use of this book lots of good photos and ideas herein.

I haven't gotten too deep in the book yet but from what I've read there seems to be useful information that's different from other scenery books. The fall and winter is when it will become useful when I get back to doing more scenery on my layout. Glad I purchased the book.

I am on my 3rd HO layout, but still learned a lot about making my scenery look more real....plan to use many of the suggestions to improve the "real-ness feel" of my latest/current layout....VERY SOLID IDEAS & PICTURES...EXCELLENT READ!

This a great book especially for beginners like myself- very informative and helpful.
