Q: is this good for blocking words/labels on packages, & if so how many layers of tape are needed? i use it to return packages.

This tape is sufficiently thick enough to block out words/labels etc with ONLY one layer. I've reused boxes many times with "sharpie" markings and printed labels and it does a great job at that.

Q: Can this tape be written directly on? I believe USPS wants the address directly written on without any labels being used

Yes, you can write on the tape with a marker like a Sharpie. Most of the packages I've gotten through the USPS had printed labels covered with clear sticky tape to hold them on. The tape also prevents the text from bleeding if it gets wet. Of course the Post Office allows labels. I think they prefer them because they're easier to read and in many cases, like from the big online auction site, there are bar codes on them. You still need the reinforced Duck brand tape. I recently received a large shipment of supplements shipped by UPS in one box. The seller sealed the box with thin clear sticky tape. It has split almost all the way across the bottom center. It was a wonder the supplements hadn't fallen out. The seller should be using a reinforced tape like the Duck Brand, to tape up the boxes. "A chain is only as good as it's weakest link."

Q: Does anyone know if this is considered environmentally safe, biodegradable and/or non-toxic?

The seller states in the last bullet entry in Ad across from the photos - -Due to the fiberglass reinforcements, the tape itself is not recyclable- . [My comment] If and when the paper decomposes, the long strands of fiberglass will remain in-tack indefinitely unless incinerated, and would be as hazardous to animals as the discarded plastics that liter the environment around the world. However . I would think that it is a better choice than using duct or other synthetic tapes in terms of the environment as at least some of it, the paper, should breakdown. I am also looking to buy a thick strong biodegradable paper tape w/o fiberglass reinforcement to see if that will work for lighter packages up to 30 lbs. I will use the reinforced tape sparingly on heavier ones. One also needs to be careful about what adhesive is used on paper tape in terms of the environment.

Q: What is the proper way to wet the tape?

Wet a paper towel and drag it across tape. Worked great for me.

Secure, safe and smart looking parcels, just what we all want to send and receive!

What an excellent product. Arrived within a couple of days and well packaged. This is very strong tape. I packed a box weighing 18kg no problem and I am sure it could have coped with more. Very easy to wet and apply. I used it on a cardboard box. Looks very professional and neat when finished. I did not even have to use it to seal the two ends, just normal paper tape there, the main seam seemed enough. Would recommend and buy again, worth the money and can be trusted to work unlike so many others.
