this trimmer works great! Just remember to cut the wick in the ...
I looked at and reviewed MANY wick trimmers and I ended up buying this trimmer merely because of the price and decent reviews. I figured that if it didn't work out I wouldn't be out a lot of money. Well let me tell you!, this trimmer works great! Just remember to cut the wick in the center of the trimmer. You can cut toward the front of the trimmer too, but the cut piece may fall off the little platter that catches the wick. Just don't cut at the back of the cutting edge of the trimmer (toward the handles) as the wick may not cut cleanly. The problem that I saw with a lot of wick trimmers was that the cutting head was not at the right angle to use a in smaller narrower jars. They were almost as bad as using scissors, and the cut wick usually fell off when removing trimmer from jar. The cutting head on this trimmer is at almost 90 degrees, which is perfect for all jar candles. I haven't lost a cut wick yet! They are very nicely weighted, stainless steel, well made and designed, and the fingers holes are a nice size even for a guy like myself. There is absolutely no need to buy those expensive brand name wick trimmers when these will do the same job ... if not better! I only wish that I bought these sooner. Listen, I don't write very many reviews. So take my advice and buy these trimmers. You'll save a hunk of money and will be very pleased. No more cutting with scissors, bending the wick in the process, and then turning the jar upside down just to tap out little pieces of cut wick.

Wick Trimmer - Perfect for gift or to keep!
I didn't have a candle wick trimmer before and had either cut with scissors, or had just not bothered with trimming the wick before. I purchased these trimmers because I had started an obsession with ring candles and the jars are quite tall. The candles smell wonderful, but I was tired of all the soot and I wanted the candles to last longer. These arrived quickly, come in a package that is great for gifting and work well for my purpose. They are a little bulky however and take up some room in the "catch all" drawer. They seem pretty well made....

Functional but poorly made
This is a tool that does what it claims to do but is not attractive or well-made. It certainly didn't need to come in a gift box because now that I've used it I wouldn't consider it nice enough to give as a gift. I guess the price is somewhat high for such a cheaply finished item.

Stainless Steel Candle Wick Trimmer
I would highly recommend this item to anyone who uses jar candles or the candles with a wooden wick. This trimmer makes an easy job of keeping the wicks short so that the candle burns cleanly. It is real easy to use and will catch the little leftover piece in it if you keep them closed till you get to the trash. My little tip that I do; I use an old coffee mug that I keep the trimmer in. I have a lot of candles so after I trim a candle, I put the leftover wicks in the mug and empty it at the end, then I store the trimmer in the mug and keep it in a handy place. I have used candles for years and wish I would have found this sooner.

Works fine, but could be sharper
Seems that the cutting tip could be sharper, but it does its job and trims the wick. Sometimes it just doesn't seem to cut a fresh wick too easily. The black burnt ones are not a problem. Keeps the wick at the proper length of 1/8 to 1/4 inch so the candle burns slowly and evenly without soot on the top. Saves you money in the long run by making the candle last longer.
