Old-Time Hymns & Gospel Favorites for Mountain Dulcimer

This is a wonderful book for a beginner or intermediate player. Easy to follow, large page for easy reading and wonderful and well loved song selection.

I'm enjoying this wonderful collection of old time hymns. Ms. Lough arranges the songs simply yet eloquently so that even a musically challenged individual such as myself can sound halfway decent playing them. I kid you not, I've had no formal music training since my pathetic attempt to learn the piano in third grade, and in less than a week of playing around (most of which was spent trying to tune the dulcimer) I've learned a few of my old favorites. Once you figure out which frets to push (and it ain't rocket science), you're ready to jam! If you're a dulcimer virtuoso, I'm guessing this book is probably below your skill level, but for the rest of us, it's simply layed out, easy to follow, and a fun way to make a "joyful noise". Excellent selection of timeless, inspirational Christian "roots" music-- songs like Amazing Grace, Rock of Ages, What a Friend We Have in Jesus.

This is a great book, beautiful songs.

I cant get the pages to print, so i can take and enlarge the paper when i am playing. So i not to happy with this part of the book other wise it good.

This is the perfect songbook for an old American instrument. The sacred songs found here bring peace to an old heart and gives me something to practice on a new-to-me dulcimer. With 3 separate tunings, I will have many happy afternoons making these songs come alive again.

Contains almost all of my favorite hymns in simple arrangements.

i really like this book! i appreciate the use of different tunings, but i wish that each song in came several tunings instead of how the book is currently set up.

I play the guitar and I liked the song list. I found out that the songs are usually in very simplified chords to play on the dulcimer, so guys like me with simple guitar chord playing will love this book. Maybe I'll play the dulcimer some day, but I got it for the chords and great song selection.
