Backyard

This is an excellent book - suitable for kids of all ages (and even adults)! I was unsure about purchasing this book, because although the reviews were good, I didn't know what the book looked like inside. Some reviews stated that it was best for older kids, not for first or second graders. I found this book to be engaging for kids of any age - even if they can't read the text independently. The information is fact-based and the pictures are realistic (as opposed to "cartoons"). I highly recommend this series! Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

These books are such a gem for children and parents searching to bring home the wonder of nature. This book is wonderfully illustrated and the text is easy to read and understand. The idea is truly inspiring and for those of you doing a Charlotte Mason style homeschool will find these a great resource to get naturestudy in and doable. Love them!

This is more a living book we do a few pages at a time quite a bit information on each page and the kids love going out in the yard to explore after reading

As a teacher, I have found this to be an important addition to the classroom. The students loved flipping through this book before we began "One Small Square" exploring activities on the playground. This book is a great resource if you have read "A Place for Wonder" by Heard and McDonough, and are incorporating the "One Small Square" activity into your curriculum. Kids can use this book to understand what they might observe in their construction paper square while they explore the playground and various other places. There is also a section in the book where students can identify bugs and plants they have found in their squares. This is also a great book to read and return to while writing nonfiction pieces with students.

Of all the nature books my children and I share, this is a favorite. Lovely illustrations!

This is an impressive series on ecosystems. I bought the entire set because nothing compares to it. However, this book has nothing to do with our backyard. It seems to be the East coast of North America and we are on the West coast. So just be prepared it probably will not match your location.

This is a beautiful book. I highly recommend it for developing an appreciation for nature. The illustrations are stunning. I have purchased most of the books in this series and highly recommend them all.
