Q: How waterproof is the cover?

Not waterproof and the foam absorbs the smell. I actually bought the hospital grade bed urine pads and placed it between the foam & cover. And so happy I did. My puppy peed on it and the cover washed fine, but it took 2-weeks for the smell to leave the mattress, even after I sprayed the top cover with vinegar. The urine didn’t soak into the foam, but it 100% soaked down to the hospital grade urine pad. Had I not put that in, it would have been ruined the 1st night.

Q: Can I buy a replacement cover for the large bed?

I have found a solution for this! I ordered a MollyMutt duvet cover (I have an XXL bed and got the 'HUGE' from Mollymutt) and the bed actually fits. The duvet cover is a little short, which causes the sides to curl up a little... but it really doesn't matter for my dogs (a mastiff and a corgi x jack russell). If you wanted, you could easily cut off a few inches of the Barkbox foam mattres and have replacement covers that fit perfectly for a long time. I got the Mollymutt duvet that was on sale (40 bucks for a HUGE), and normally they are 65 bucks. Really well made.
