NovaTac Special OPS LED Flashlight

I was thinking, tactical product, special ops, must function very well huh? Well, I had a hard time just keeping the light turning on and off. I finally waited long enough for the light to "warm up" and finally it worked. Still, I had to push the "RIGHT" location on the button for the light to function. Hell our troops uses this entering a terrorist compound and had to press a few times to find the "sweet spot" for the light to turn on? Design was great, good brightness but drains battery like crazy! NOT a good light. Nowhere near Surefire.

Searched a lot for high power waterproof pocket flashlight. Novatac met the needs with 66ft waterproof rating and three intensity levels easily selected with the push button. Seems well built. Just got it a few weeks ago and so far so good. Have not yet tested the waterproof feature but so far I really like the light.

Where to begin. I purchased the Special Ops version and the Storm version directly from NovaTac. I figured I would try something for EDC and weapon mount use that was a little smaller and lighter than Surefire. 4 months into ownership, the Special Ops model failed while I was in the field. I figured "hey, these guys are competing with other high end flashlight manufacturers so their warranty must be good". And I would be wrong. The phone number doesn't work for customer service. Emails don't get replied to and when I contacted one of their commercial sales reps as a last resort I was told that he hasn't worked there in a year. But he told me to send it in with a description of what happened and they should replace it. I did just that and have been waiting a YEAR for my new light. With Streamlight I have never waited for more than 2 weeks for a warranty repair. Surefire is even better.Short story: They make a crap product that is overpriced since it isn't free and they don't support it. One star because I can't give zero stars. Oh, and the whole "We have supplied over 35000 lights to US Forces in support of Operation Enduring Freedom" is bull because I did two tours in "the sandbox" and never saw one of these things. Probably a good thing too, considering the quality of the product. Went back to my Surefire 6P LED that has never failed me and continues to serve me well. Oh, and the storm version recently failed on me too. (threw it in a tool box as a back up to a backup) checked it recently and it was dead. Replaced the batteries. Dead. Saved myself the shipping to return it and just threw it away.Don't. buy. this. light. Or anything from NovaTac.

I owned a Nova Tac 120T and was initially very happy with it, but later learned it drained battery life when not in use, and the 10 year shelf life of the CR123 battery was more like 6 months before it started to dim.I also bought the Special Ops flashlight for working crime scenes. I roll-out to crime scenes and needed a better light. Right out of the box this one DID NOT WORK. It flickered on and off and would not cycle from hi-power to lower power or strobe.I sent it back to Nova Tac September 8, 2011 for warranty service. It's been over two mnths and still not light. I called the company and was twice promised the light shortly but no luck. Now their phone number has been disconnected. My letters, e-mails and calls all go unasnwered and I don't even have my broken light back to return to the seller.At one time these were good lights, but you are better off with a Streamlight or Surefire. They back their products, and their products actually work!

Expensive product which just died for no reason, this has happened to me twice! Awful customer support, no replies to email. Do not buy, awful company.

2 month of very light usage and it's dead now. will not turn on.quit on me right when I needed it most.

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. I have had mine for a year and a half, use it pretty regularly and have had exactly zero problems. It has three settings and a good strobe feature. I have had no issues with battery drain and it has worked wonderfully. Maybe I got lucky, but I certainly can't gripe!

I've owned a few of the more expensive, US made Novatacs as well as many HDS lights (on which the Novatac series was copied from). This light is still impressive, especially for the price. I have not had any problems with the light! Don't hesitate to buy one!
