Compost Pail 11" x 7" -

I had been using an old plastic sherbert container for years, for collecting kitchen compost. The container was small, and even if the top was on, those little fruit flies were ever-present. Last summer there was a fruit fly epedemic, where they moved into every room of the house. GROSS! Found this little fire hydrant looking container and I was skeptical that I could achieve buglessness status with it. Well, it works! Not only do I have no bugs, there are no smells. There's a charcoal filter inside the lid (which I'm not certain how I'm going to replace, if it needs it) and that baby keeps the odors inside. The kitchen is not air-conditioned, and, even on hot, humid days, when the garbage can smells and the toilet bowl is condensing water all over the bathroom floor, there are no compost smells at all! The container is so large that I only have to dump it 2 or 3 times a week, whereas with the sherbert container, it was being emptied once or twice a day. The only downside is that the container appears too large for the small countertop space it's in, but that's because I have too much junk on the counter. I have rinsed the filter, hoping that it won't need replacement, but after a few months of use, I don't think I will have to. Great purchase.

This is a large size and we are only 2 people so it's emptied more frequently, but it's no problem banging it on the edge of the composter, unlike clay/china ones. Fits nicely on our counter. Cleanup is a snap.

Just started composting this year and this container is just want I needed. It looks nice on the counter and the filter prevents odors

Extremely pleased with the product. It came quickly and seems to be a real value for the cost. The only concern is the inner lid which doesn't stay up in the lid, but it doesnot come out. Overall, completely pleased.

I love this compost bin in every way but it has a filter inside the lid. There was no instructions on how to take the filter out. The top comes apart and the filter can be removed, cleaned and put back in. However, the lid can be reassembled but not in a way that will hld it together. I wish I had known that because now I can't use the filters at all because everytime I take the lid off the bottom of it falls off. I sent an email to the seller asking them if there is some way to secure it, maybe I'm doing it wrong. If the lid is not supposed to be taken apart then why isn't it welded together? Frustrating. The filters I guess are supposed to be just pulled through.I wish someone would contact me. It wouldbe nice to have a replacement since no information came on how to care for this product and now I have ruined the filter option.
