Great customer service!
Works very well. The first one did not function properly, but was immediately replaced with one that did. Great customer service!

Does not work as advertised.
Ordered this to grow sprouts and make natto. I did not even need to use the sprouter to know it would not work with most sprouting seeds. The holes in sprouting tray are too big to sprout anything but beans and larger seeds. Alfalfa mustard brocoli with fall through into water. Perhaps they should include different sized trays for different types of seeds. The container for natto was way too small to warrant the amount of time it takes to make a batch of natto.

Not worth the money
I wanted to like this thing. But at the rate you have to change the water it’s just as easy to do it the old way.

Grows Easy Delicious Sprouts, but Needs Special Treatment for Small Seeds
UPDATE:I had an idea to solve the problem of the little seeds being washed to the edge of the tray by the shower spray that you can see in the first pictures. First I carefully ran the tray under my kitchen water faucet to spread the seeds evenly across the tray once again. Then I put the tray with seeds on the bottom. I added the other tray on top but placed it upside down creating a larger gap for the sprouts to grow on the bottom. My expectation was that the top tray would buffer the spray, but still allow water to get through to the seeds through the slots without disturbing the seeds. After a few showers, it looked like it was working! The seeds appeared to be remaining in place. Forty-eight hours later, it looked like the sprouts had grown and were trying to push the top tray upwards except they are not strong enough. A few were growing up through the slots of the top tray. I removed the top tray and was pleasantly surprised to find the small seeds had stayed in place and growing very nicely! (see picture) The sprouts themselves are able to withstand the shower spray to stay in place to finish growing. I'm still not happy with the necessity to modify this sprouter, but I am happy to now have the capability to sprout the full range of small to large seeds.----------I was very excited when I came across this sprouting machine as I have tried to do sprouts numerous time in a sprouting jar. I'm really good about rinsing several times a day for the first two days. Then I get busy and forget so never end up with sprouts. I searched for other brands to compare and kept coming back to this model but while trying to make my decision, the price went way up to nearly $70 - more than I could afford or was willing to pay for a specific use convenience appliance. But it has a mode for bean sprouts that I've always wanted to try and a mode for "other sprouts" which I assumed is for more conventional alfalfa sprouts and the main reason I was considering a sprout machine at all. Well folks, we all know what happens when we ASSUME, but I seem to never learn my lesson! More on that in a moment. So, it also does yogurt? Sounds like that would be fun to try! So I started searching for sprouting seeds while I was waiting and hoping for the price to come back down. I found a wonderful multi-collection of sprouting seeds from Sprout House which included a range of small sprouts like alfalfa to larger bean sprouts. I continued to wait for the price to drop and finally…. YES! I quickly and excitedly ordered it along with the sprouting seeds. When it arrived, I couldn't wait to get started! I unpacked the unit and the first thing I noticed was the trays. The slots for the water to drain through were HUGE compared to the little teeny alfalfa and clover seeds. They would obviously just fall through the slots. I was very angry and disappointed. Angry at myself for assuming the extra sprout mode was for other small seeds and not getting more info about the "other sprouts" mode before purchasing and angry at the company for not providing more information as well. I was tempted to return it, but decided to try it with the bigger sprouting seeds. I chose one of the mixes I bought which included medium to large seeds. Several hours later, some were already starting to sprout so I was a bit less angry and becoming impressed! By the following morning, many had sprouted and even grown a little. I was excited for the potential this machine seem to exhibit, but still felt that it should be made to handle any size sprouting seeds given the price!! I wondered how I might be able to do the small seeds as well.I thought of cheesecloth, but it would need to be folded several times to keep the small seeds from falling through. I have visions of the small sprouts getting attached and tangled in the cloth and a hassle to remove. I also have concerns that the cheesecloth being soaking wet for several days might be a perfect environment for bacteria growth. Then I remembered I had a reusable coffee maker filter with fine mesh. I added a teaspoon of alfalfa & clover seeds to it and set it on one quadrant of the sprouter machine tray. By the end of the day, I could see a few seeds starting to sprout and the water was draining through the coffee filter mesh very well! However, this was not an optimum solution. One teaspoon of sprouts was actually too much and since the bottom of the filter is curved, the sprouts all collected to the outer edge and were too crowded for the best germination. But knowing the mesh worked well, I started to search for mesh I could cut to the size of the tray. This ultimately led to a lot more research, work, and additional expense than I had hoped for. Mesh is measured in microns so what is the micron size used in reusable coffee filters? I learned that it's typically about 75-100 microns. I figured it might be better to have slightly bigger holes to ensure the best drainage, but without the seeds getting through. And of course had to be food safe as well. I found 150 micron mesh (which is still very fine) in 5x5 inch squares that I could easily trim to fit into each quadrant of the tray. I received a couple days ago just as the last batch of sprouts was almost done. Today, I cleaned the unit in prep of starting another batch. I then placed the tray on the square of mesh, traced, marked, and trimmed the mesh to fit into the tray. I only modified one tray, keeping the second tray with larger drainage slots for larger seeds. I sprinkled a tablespoon of teeny alfalfa and clover seeds across the tray. It doesn't look like much but didn't want to waste expensive seed if it didn't work out well. I watched the first shower cycle and in general it works! However, I learned of yet another issue that should have been accounted for in the design of this machine. If the "other sprout" mode is meant to accommodate smaller seeds, the shower spray should be more gentle. After the first shower, these small seeds were all pushed together in a circular pattern that matched the circular pattern of the shower spray. When I checked it again three hours later, the teeny seeds have now all been pushed out to the edge of the tray, all crowded and clumped together - not the ideal situation for the best germination or water drainage between the seeds. Will have to wait and see how they do. (see pictures)I was going to give 4 stars because I was able to modify to accommodate all different sizes of sprout seeds despite the extra time, effort, and expense on an already pricey specialty appliance. However, I knocked it down to 3 after seeing all the small seeds washed out to the edge of the tray. I feel that this machine has the potential to be a 5 star machine for its excellence in producing delicious sprouts, convenience of start and forgot until its completed all the work for you, and without the issues I might have expected with a $20 machine. But for $50+ and a "other sprouts" mode which "should" be intended for seeds other than larger bean sprouts that have its own mode, I would have expected the tray to be properly designed to accommodate any size seed as well as an adjusted strength of the shower spray for the other sprouts mode. Perhaps one tray should have the larger drainage slots for doing the larger seeds and the second tray should be designed with mesh for smaller seeds. The mesh should be larger holes than what I am trying at 150 microns, yet small enough holes to hold the smallest of typical sprouting seeds. The 150 micron mesh is very flimsy, but works fine sitting on top of the sturdy tray for support. A tray designed with just fine mesh would need to be less flimsy or designed with some amount of cross support underneath. Or maybe stainless steel mesh would be less flimsy. Mine is nylon. An afterthought…. I have not visited the product listing page since I received the sprouter, until now to post this review. I immediately noticed something looked different than I remember. I believe the description has been modified and I see where it addresses the small seed issue. I can't imagine that was there before and I missed it as well as several other people who also had comments criticizing the same problem. There is also an accompanying photo about this issue that I can't imagine missing if it was there before. However, the slots in the tray in the photo look smaller than they actually are, but look obviously too large for small alfalfa and clover seeds. I'm glad the description and photos have been updated to be more complete (now they need to work on the awful manual) and avoid unexpected surprised to future customers, but it doesn't change the fact that this expensive machine should have been designed to be instantly, fully useable out of the box for all types of sprouting that it gives a first impression of being capable to do. Hence, sticking with the 3 stars.

Wonderful!
Instructions for assembly need to improve but we figured it out. Look at all the wonderful sprouts after only 4 days!

Disappointed.
I am not sure yet about this item. I am trying to figure it out on my own. The principal concept sounds good, but the instructions are a joke. Hope the company would hire a better writer.

Awesomeness...
It's an exceptional sprouting machine, but also can make "natto" and sake rice. Really nice. I plan on buying more of this model...
