Outstanding information, but ABOMINABLE presentation/editing!
While the info in this book is more than relevant and helpful, the editing was virtually non-existent--so be warned! Entire paragraphs are duplicated right after each other; recipe instructions call of the addition of ingredients that are not listed in the list of ingredients for the recipe; page numbers for items given in the index do not match the page the recipe is actually on; and there are countless typos--including the word "CHROMIC" that is on the cover of the book, that is supposed to be "CHRONIC"!--you get the idea. It is as though grammar school children assembled this information and then never took a second look at it before it went to the publisher. That being said, if you can get over these frustrations that arise when using the book, then you will have a valuable addition to your cookbook resources. The book contains much general and specific health info; an extensive glossary to define the terms and ingredients discussed in the health section; long lists of suppliers for low- and no-sodium foods; nutrient data; lists of foods one CAN eat, if they are curtailing sodium consumption; info on interpreting FDA labels, etc., in addition to the recipes. I was very pleased to discover a simple recipe to replace soy sauce that utilizes only molasses, rice vinegar, fresh garlic and onion powder. For my stir-frying purposes this one recipe was worth the cost of the book. So, do not throw out the baby with the bath water, as it were. Distill the information, turning a blind eye to the presentation. and forge ahead on the path to better health!

Indispensable to help reduce the sodium in your diet.
Excellent. Nearly half the book teaches one what to eat a low sodium diet and how to find it in an over-salted world. The forward is by Dr. Fowler, Director and Medical Director of a couple of heart clinics at Stanford Medical Center. This forward is worth the price of the book.I wish I had known the things in this book years ago.The FDA says Americans spend $4 billion dollars a year buying salt water in our meats. My doctor told me to cut out the salt. But as I used very little salt and ate few processed foods, I had to determine where my excess sodium was coming from. This book gave me that information. This book is indispensable to anyone battling heart trouble, hypertension, amongst other detrimental physical conditions caused by excess salt in our foods, and who wants to just "FEEL BETTER". Yes, I shouted it.Get the book. Read the book. Do what the book says. Keep a food diary. Don't cheat. Don't eat over 500 mg sodium a day. Feel better within a few days. It works. You can't buy the book on his website. The link only sends you to Amazon.

It is an excellent book. The book suggested 500 mg daily for low sodium intake and I followed their advice and brought down my blood pressure. I had a life threatening experience with high blood pressure and the hematocrits blood cells % levels were too high and had to diet to bring my weight down by about 22 lbs. Following the advice presented in this book in 28 days I brought the sodium. weight and hematocrits to a normal level. I highly recommend this book before it is too late.

Helps with Adjustment
This book is a combination of How-To and recipes. So it is great if you are older and having to cut out salt due to sudden health reasons, because it helps you adjust to a quick change. If you are looking for a lot of recipes-I would look somewhere else. "The No-Salt, Lowest-Sodium Cookbook" is a great start!

Living Well Without Salt
I am just so grateful to Mr. Gazzaniga for all his time and effort expended in compiling this cookbook. I have two other cookbooks he has written and use them all the time. It makes preparing low sodium possible when otherwise I would not have that may options. I purchased this particular cookbook because of the cracker recipes in the book. I have a lot of difficulty finding low sodium crackers and am looking forward to trying the recipes.

One of the few excellent sources for low sodium diet info!
My husband has been able to decrease his blood pressure meds (diuretic type) and has lost most of the edema in his feet and lower legs after a month following the dietary info provided by Gazzaniga. I would recommend his other books and website resources also.
