Great Reference for ADDers
Being a librarian, I recognize that books have different purposes. Some are meant to be read cover to cover. Some are meant to be kept handy and referenced as needed. I consider this book to be the latter. While you could definitely read it cover to cover (and I did to do this review), this book would be most useful to refer to when you are having trouble in one particular area. Even the author mentions that you should use it this way in the introduction.I think the negative reviews of this book were written by people who tried to read it cover to cover, and didn't get very far. For one thing, if you have ADD you will not remember the tips you want to try if you do this. However, with a stack of Post-it flags, or if you have a Kindle, you can mark the items you want to incorporate into your daily life and come back to them later. On to the content. I have seen some books for people with ADD written by people who don't have it. I really like that this book is full of tips that people have TRIED and found to work for them. In fact, I keep a file on my computer titled, "What works for me" where I enter stuff that I find useful. When I find myself getting off track, I go there to be reminded of the things that help me most. With this book I have been able to add to that list.Ok, so here are some of my favorite tips, or at least where to find them in the book. The tips listed in the first review I read of this book were not a good representation of what you can find in this book.Cooking/Meal Planning-tip 11, among other things-how to know if an egg is fresh or not (I never had a problem with eggs going bad until just recently and this was very helpful)-tip 21-two websites that offer meal plans (there were actually I think 4 listed, but two of them really stuck out as they offered quick EASY healthy meals, and the other a shopping list, and specific steps... good for folks with ADD)Cleaning-tip #25 Sequencing and prioritizing chores- this tip gave me a new way of thinking about cleaning my house. It also made me realize that I have one way of thinking (being the manager of everything, doing all the planning) and I was skipping the step of actually being the "employee" who gets the plans accomplished.Clothes and shopping-tip 7 gave the name of a great store where you can get all of your clothing to mix and match and also get coordinating accessories. Great for people like me who are not good at putting that stuff together.Reminders-tip 5 a link to free downloadable software to help you keep up with your to-do list.Ok, quick side note... I am writing this review by going back and looking at what I highlighted on my Kindle and I have most of the things listed under Reminders highlighted, so I found that entire section to be very helpful!!Another item I found in this book that I plan to implement at work was the Prioritization scale. I probably can't describe it very well, but I can tell you that the book has a chart in the appendix that you can copy and use. You rate all items 1-4 based on importance and then I think on urgency. These numbers are multiplied together and based on the product, the items are prioritized for you.Social problems and awkwardness can also cause problems for people with ADD. This book devotes a section to that, and I also marked a couple of books it referred to for additional help in that area. The final chapters in the book focus on finding the humor in our mistakes, and I guarantee you will find an example of at least one person who has done something more embarrassing than anything you have done due to ADD. Professionals also give some very good tips in at the end of the book along with their contact info and websites for more information.I have seen some criticism for this book stating that the tips were not written by the author. First of all this is not entirely true (read on) and the amount of work she had to do in compiling, sorting, and organizing this book is what makes it such a great resource. While she did not write the majority of the tips, she did write many of them as you can see the names at the bottom of each tip. I also found this to be helpful because when I found a tip I liked by one person, I found many of the same tips contributed by that person were also helpful to me.I wrote this review mainly because the first review listed did not do it justice and actually kept me from buying this book for a long time. It was not until I saw it recommended by someone else that I decided to give it a second look. I am so glad I did, and I think most women in my position could also benefit from this book.

A lot of good, but some dated and harmful advice
I can see why people said the book is dated, it is. There was one piece of advice I found really off putting though, one woman recommended to use casino coiled bracelets for things like your kitchen scissors and staplers because they are free from the casino. In what right mind would a reasonable person encourage an entire group of people with poor impulse control to go into a casino? Even for a free bungie bracelet, it's just really bad advice. You can get them by the handfuls on eBay and alie express for next to nothing. Probably a LOT cheaper than a trip to the casino would turn out to be.I'd also say a lot of this book is aimed more for women struggling to balance their families with the rest of life. So for younger childless or just childfree women, this book is going to have a LOT of flipping past child rearing suggestions, because I did find it was mentioned a lot in other sections past patient parenting, which is my bad, I didn't really look close enough. But if you don't want to read a bunch of stuff about kids give this one a pass. I found it really hard to relate to.That aside, there is also some good advice, the recipe section is really great in particular. Feeding myself and just remembering to eat properly is a HUGE problem for me, and I often just forget until I feel sick. While I doubt I'll try most of them, I am super grateful to find new recipes that aren't that far off from my tastes, are cheap, and most importantly fast and easy. She even has multiple tips for avoid having to wash pans, which is something I dread doing often.Overall it's not a horrible book, but I had intended to pass on it originally and kinda wish I had just stuck with that instinct. While I did get a few useful tips from the book, and a good handful of new recipes I can't say it was really worth the price (to me) even used, which is still pretty expensive in my opinion.I'll probably pass this along to a friend of mine to help with her struggles.

I've finally found my tribe
I initially found this book irritating - all so simplistic! - until I really sat down and started applying thought to some of the ideas. Granted there are areas that work less well if you don't live in the States (the names of stationery items or cooking ingredients don't translate) - and adaptations in the workplace vary from country to country. On the positive side, you finally begin to believe you are far from alone as an ADHD woman. Every crazy, silly, mindless action you've taken, thought you've had (or more likely haven't had), error made, meant-to-do action forgotten, appointment missed has been made countless times over by the wonderful women who've shared their own ADHD mis-haps - and workable solutions - here. It also becomes apparent that there is no one-size-fits-all - what works for one would be a nightmare for another - but that's a good thing: it now makes sense why all those 'helpful suggestions' made by non-ADHD partners, family, colleagues and friends simply don't work for your unique way of processing and seeing. Finally, you will howl with laughter as you recognise all those bloopers documented here. And it seems that, no matter how bad you think your own experience of living with ADHD is, there are numerous laugh-out-loud examples where you catch yourself smiling, 'Well, at least I've never done THAT!' :)

Help for the Disorganised
I'm not quite sure if I have ADHD or not but I love this book. It's full of really useful coping strategies writen by women like me. I really enjoyed the sense of humour running through the book - at times I really did laugh out loud! I would have liked it even more if there was a British edition or I could buy some of the products mentioned over here.

Quick reference guide
I have read many many tips online and was hoping this book would be a game changer but it was written in 2005 and is a little out of date. It refers to palm pilots as a useful tool...Nevertheless, ther are many quick tips for everyday dilemmas.

Outdated tip “Palm Pilots and Blockbuster late fees”
This mostly a collection of tip from random people suggesting things like using a Palm Pilot, ToDo lists, avoiding Blockbuster late fees and setting up automatic monthly payments. Very outdated. Only read a few random pages and tip about palm pilots kept popping up.
