PEAKVise Riser - Peak Vise Option - Fly Tying

Did exactly what I wanted. It elevates the vise which allows a better view of the fly or crappie jig you are tying.

First off, I love/love/love my Peak vice. I was struggling with lower neck pain after a few hours of tying and thought the riser might be just the ticket to improve the comfort of tying. Ordered from Ed's Fly Shop via Amazon and it arrived on time. This gadget is made right out of the "over engineered' train of thought and is a solid piece of heavy brass that will far outlast my time on this planet. At first it didn't fit, but Ed himself called when I emailed him about my problem and he suggested there might be some powder coating in the hole of the base--sure enough, 5 seconds with the Dremel and we were in business. Incidentally, it really isn't clear from the packaging, but the riser has the capability of allowing a flexible amount of adjustment to the height. Nice!While I have come to expect amazing quality from Peak, I really wanted to send a huge 'shout-out' to Ed and his service behind the sale. While Amazon is the retail machine in this transaction, the personal service is what made my day. Ed, you're the bomb-diggity!

Before I purchased this Riser, I never saw a product photo that showed exactly how it mounted to the base. There is an extension of brass off the brass part visible in the photo that is machined to a smaller diameter. This machined extension fits perfectly in the hole(s) of the base and is secured by a brass-tipped set screw in the back. It's not going anywhere. The Riser allows the vise support rod to be adjusted up or down as desired. I like a little extra height to keep the bobbin from resting on the base, but for me, it wasn't necessary to have it all the way up either. It is probably the most useful accessory Peak makes for this vise, with the midge jaws being second. Hope this helps! Tight lines.

great tight fit. The extra height is great.

Straight forward product, but the craftsmanship is impeccable. My vise was just a bit low for comfort and this solved the problem.

I keep my vise on a coffee table in my den. The riser allowed by to adjust it to a perfect height.
