No! Sword was plain. Scabbard is covered in a cheap vinyl. Gold plated parts were tarnished. Leather strap was torn an frayed as if it was used.

I am realy pleased with this replica, it makes a fine display peace. The plastic pomel and hand grip look simirealistic and the blade looks realy good to. I am not going to be fighting with this, it fits my needs, just something nice to look at. This is not a self defense weapon but I am sure that if you pulled this out of it's scabbard and started waving it around you would frighten the heck out of anyone not prepared.

For the price I was Very disappointed. Not even polished brass accents is just gold painted pot metal. The sword had crap for balance and was basically a cheap Chinese 20$item with a fluffed up description. I was able to get a functional sharpened high quality short sword for only 20$ more. I'd send it back for a refund if in wasn't past the return time frame.

Received the sword very fast, thank you.I was looking for a very basic gold and brown sword that was light enough to carry around at a Ren Faire and it is, since I am basically personalizing it's outward appearance to fit a theme (more Roman goddess than Maximus) it works fine for me. With this sword, do not expect battle ready (it's blade is stainless steel and it is stamped china) nor one as perfect as the $350 version that is carbon steel, this model is for your wall or to carry around at a faire or at Halloween. Very good prop sword.PS: the blade did have a bit of a sticky residue substance on it, got it off easily by rubbing it with a silver polishing cloth.

Not a bad replica in build quality, but the stock picture is horribly misleading.- Stock photo states "battle ready"- this is a joke. This is a decorative sword- period. Battle ready swords are made of carbon steel, typically have an edge and will cost much more than this movie replica.- Stock photo shows a white/ivory grip, the one I received was more yellow than white (see attached photo).- Stock photo shows a dark reddish-brown scabbard that matches the guard and pommel of the sword, the one I received was light brown/tan.- Note: The picture doesn't mislead on this point, but thought I'd mention that the blade cross-section is flat, not a traditional rhombus, so there is no center spine on the blade.So all-in-all, the sword was dissapointing. The picture looks great, the actual sword looks like a bad knock-off. I wasn't expecting high-end materials or battle-ready construction, I was simply expecting the sword to look like the one pictured. I returned it the same day I received it and I certainly appreciate Amazon's awesome customer service. Looks like I'll have to keep looking to find a decent replica of General Maximus Decimus Meridius' sword...

I searched for this sword when the movie Gladiator was first released and the price was too expensive. I gave up searching about four years ago because every site that had it was "out of stock". It is a beautiful decoration at an excellent price. It hangs above my headboard and makes a fantastic decoration. I only wish I would have found it sooner.

Sword is great but as said in another post, the sword does have a glue like substance on the blade I got it off easily with some steel wool coated in copper u can find at any hardware store.

Sword looks good, handle is plastic and cheap looking.
