Alfalfa (Lucern) Food Plot - 5 grams (~2,000 Seeds) A cool season perennial legume living from three to twelve years, depending on variety and climate. It resembles clover with clusters of small purple flowers. The plant grows to a height of up to 3 feet with deep a long-running root system making it very resilient and drought resistant. The plant exhibits autotoxicity, which means that it is difficult for alfalfa seed to grow in existing stands of alfalfa. It is therefore recommended that alfalfa fields be rotated with other crops before reseeding. Commonly grown for hay, silage, and forage production for cattle and horses, wildlife food plots, grazing, or fed as greenchop, and edible sprouts for human consumption.
