Q: Is it possible to expand/replace ram or the ssd?

The memory and SSD are not upgradeable on this model.

Q: The hard drive is so small that even after moving many files to an external drive I still can't install Windows updates. Is there a way to solve this?

My C drive is now full with all the updates. I only have a few programs on the laptop. It is a great little, lightweight machine, just problem with the size of Win 10. I was wondering if one went into the Disk Management and changed C drive to a USB drive that is presently D and then tried to install Win 10 on that drive (which is now named C) would it work? One would need a thumb drive to install the new Win 10 or a CD disk (external) to do it. Any thoughts on this from anyone.

Q: How much actual free internal drive space is available after Win10 is inatalled?

An update on my previous answer: Windows just installed the "Creator's Update" which soaks up about 3 GB of file space, leaving me with less than 4 GB left. So beware. Much of this update seems to involve 3D Virtual Reality hardware, which I don't have, and I suspect there's a way of getting some of this space back by uninstalling stuff, but I haven't figured it out yet.
