Deep Thoughts: Inspiration for the Uninspired

Just what the doctor ordered!

This book had my husband laughing so hard. He loves it. Thank you.

Rather overpriced for what it is.

Every now and then I pull this book out to see if a new acquaintance has similar tastes in humour. Usually, they split a gut over this stuff. If they just look at me with a blank stare, I know we won't be seeing that much of each other. My brother bought several Deep Thoughts books for my dad years ago on Christmas. We sat around for almost 2 hours as my dad (a former minister) read these in a deadpan monotone to all of us and our kids. We were rolling. Finally, we sent the kids to bed in the living room. Next morning they told us they had been plugging their noses to keep from laughing too loud because they could hear us from the next room and didn't want us to stop reading.

Fun little diversion. Most or many of these thoughts could have been written on a men’s bathroom wall. I remember when Al Franken delivered these on SNL, and when reading this book, I can hear his nasally voice inflecting these words of wisdom. So, if you want a little trip down memory lane, find a copy and enjoy.

Jack Handy can dependably make me laugh. The beauty part is, doses of his wit come in super-short word bursts: if you don't like one example, move right on to the next. And there are plenty of them in this slender, midget paper-back; fits right into your pocket, like a pack of cigarettes, only these aren't lethal.

Funny book. This is a good little thing to have on a very small coffee table, or to give to a friend. I purchased it because I had heard it was an excellent book to use as a primer for writing stand-up comedy. Apparantly several comedians out there in the world have used this series of books as a framework for designing stand-up comedy, and silly situations.I highly agree.

Jack Handey, is always amazing. I have quoted him in my highschool yearbook, facebook profile, twitter, and even a college paper.Any Jack Handey makes a great book and a great easy read when you need to cheer up or tickle your brain a little.One of my all time favorite comedy writers, greatly under recognized and under appreciated.

I received this book today. Read the first two quotes. Had to put it down because the tears of laughter stopped from reading more. I manged to read a further three quotes before I had to put it down again. Great book.

Light hearted wit and 1 liners

The actual content is fine but the paper is cheap and so is the printing. I would not be happy with the quality of this product if I was the author.

So it's tiny, don't expect hours of reading here.But it's deep, like an azure pool at the base of a tall waterfall after a large auger dug down a mile and a half to find precious metals. It didn't find any, but it's the thought that counts.

Is where I feel the pleasure when reading this. I have it on my desk at work and every now and then when a co-worker is sad I'll give them a "deep thought" and seems to make things better. It's therapy in bite-sized Jack Handy portions.
