Dishwasher not starting? Start with this part
At only two years old, our GE dishwasher just stopped working. I loaded it, hit the start button and about 15 seconds later it starts beeping at me without starting. After doing some research (Youtube, Google, Amazon), I narrowed it down to the latch sensor. I confirmed this by completely removing the sensor and trying to start it (It gave the same error).I ordered this part and with 36 hours it was at my doorstep. It took about 15 minutes to install (two phillips screws on the sensor/ two on the dish washer bracket). Good as new again. I would start here before calling a repair man. This probably saved me a hundred bucks. I give thanks to all those who took the time to troubleshoot and post their results to various sites. You're the real heroes.

READ THIS before installing!
Functions fine - but as other reviews mentioned, this part is not threaded and that the mounting holes are slightly smaller than the factory spec. Turns out, THIS IS SOMEWHAT OF AN UNDERSTATEMENT. As one might be inclined, I presumed that I could just power through the plastic using the existing screws by hand... NOPE. Just trust me - take along a drill with an appropriately sized bit to enlarge the mounting holes ever so slightly and avoid making two trips like I was forced to. Another "tip" (so to speak) - I found no need to actually pull out the dishwasher to install this (the one I worked on was seated below a tile lip and had nearly zero clearance). Instead, I found that after I removed the dishwasher's bottom panel and (top mount) bracket screws, I could just pull at the top to tip the unit forward just enough to access the latch.

If Error code indicates door open/closed sensor is defective B4 ordering part; check alignment..
check alignment of door latchI ordered the part (our GE dishwasher was over six years old ...) and installed it (the replaced part worked intermittently). I am very happy to replace it.i also discovered that over time the front feet had been held off the floor by the upper retaining bracket (fig 1); consequently the latch on the door (see fig 3) was not triggering the micro-switches on the frame (fig2). Fig 4 & 5 demonstrates the small tolerance between the two situations where the door is fully closed: (i)with the two micro-switches not engaged (fig4) (ii) with the micro switches fully engaged (fig5) allowing the dishwasher to begin its cycle.Notice that the minimal difference in the height of the screwdriver (in both cases pressing up hard against the switch assembly back stop) above the switch assembly height in figs 4 (switches not engaged) on and fig 5 (switches engaged).Once the frame was no longer suspended in space by the upper brackets, the door reached the correct height to fully and repeatedly trigger the microswitch sensors.

Perfect replacement!
Our dishwasher latch was starting to fail (dishwasher would run when closed, but if you walked too close or touched the dish towel hanging from it, it would stop and think it was open). Ended up buying this and switching it out in less than 15 minutes!I am NOT handy but watched a video online and "adapted" it to make it an easier process. Removed the two screws attaching the top to my counter, slid out slightly (enough to remove the latch), swapped the part and reversed the process. No need to disconnect water line or power for me which was great.Would definitely recommend buying here - it came brand new, fast and free shipping and was less than elsewhere online!

fixed the problem
I had to pull the dishwasher out about 8" to install this part. Replacement is very easy - pull the insulation back on the top of the unit and unscrew the phillips screws. I found the they were very tight and had a tendency to strip. The problem this fixed is that the dishwasher would stop and chime that the door was open during a cycle. I would have to push the door in and press start several times per cycle.

Easy installation problem Solved
Great part fast shipping, great value! Our GE dishwasher is still under warranty so contacted them for service work at the first of November repairman came out diagnosis was bad door switch was supposed to be 5-7 days never saw him again GE wouldn’t just send me the part because I wasn’t a qualified technician, I am now! I ordered this door switch it was here in 3 days and I have a Happy Wife again. Part was exactly as described and works flawlessly, and a great price and with Prime no shipping cost and hassle of waiting for a lazy repairman to hold me hostage. Would buy this again! Great seller!

Fixed my issue
My GE dishwasher was triple beeping with the door closed, like it thought the door was open. Ordered this and put it in, which solved the issue. The screws are very easy to strip when driving into the new plastic. I’d recommend driving screws into the part on the countertop, before installing it, to create threads. It will be a bit easier when you go to put it in the washer.
