"Knock! Knock!" "Who’s there?"
A boy named Wiglaf is going to a new school at the Dragon Slayers' Academy with his pig named Daisy. Daisy writes in Pig Latin (like “no kidding” turns into “o-nay idding-kay”). Wiglaf’s best friends are Eric and Angus. And there’s a dragon named Gorzil who talks as well! And that’s what the DSA is for, but Wiglaf is afraid of blood. What could he do? Will he slay the dragon? The last chapter has a TOTAL SURPRISE ENDING! (But I won’t tell.)There are bad jokes galore! The book is perfect and the pictures are terrific. And some of the books are published in other languages, as well. (I found 6 of them so far. Are there others?) Kids would really like it and even old folks like Mrs. Einstein and me. More than 5 stars!Dr. Einstein(Is that Dragon Einstein??? I don’t think so.)

Fun, Funny & asking for MORE!
This book is fun and engaging as both a read-aloud and an early chapter book and has our kids asking for MORE, MORE, MORE! They are tearing thru this exciting series and cannot wait to get to the next book to find out what happens to the oh-so-sweet Wiglaf and his Dragon Slayer Academy friends as they go on dragon slaying adventures that often turn out to be quite funny! If you have a reluctant reader and/or a young child that is not yet ready for Harry Potter, this series is sure to grasp your child's attention and get them hooked on this series and reading in general. Any book series that has my children wanting to stay up late so they can read/hear more is a winner to me! I cannot recommend this series enough . . . try it, you will not be disappointed!

Love it!
Love these books! I read them to my 3 year old while he plays with play doh. He likes hearing me read and I enjoy the book even though it is a little advances for a 3 year old. We’re both happy with the situation :)

I was hesitant to read these with the kiddo because, well, they seem ridiculous. Turns out they are super fun (in a ridiculous kind of way) and sometimes also wise. We still quote Wiglaf. ("What does Wiglaf say about 'If?'")

Not bad. Recommended series by my 3rd grader's teacher
Not bad. Recommended series by my 3rd grader's teacher. My son is a decently advanced reader and this book has some difficult to pronounce names in it. There are also some scenes that were difficult for him to follow what was going on. But it was a good story. At some point we'll read the next in the series.

Girls like it too
My 7-year-old daughter is in French Immersion, and so has been slow to take up reading in English on her own. This is one of the first books she's read from cover to cover on her own. The story has lots of twists and turns, lots of humor. There are several examples I could list, but I don't want to give anything away. I caught her often laughing aloud reading it by herself. The illustrations are also very nice, with about one full page, beautifully detailed pen-and-ink drawing per chapter. I'm just now buying the next 4 in the series, but she tells me she plans to read all 20...

DRAGON SLAYERS' ACADEMY 1 The New Kid at School
