Let My Children Cook!: A Passover Cookbook for Kids

Excellent recipes, adult help/supervision needed
This book has wonderful recipes that the whole family will enjoy. The pages are beautiful, colorful, with cheerful, humorous illustrations.The book is described as “The perfect Passover cookbook for ages 8-108!” However, many the recipes are too complicated for children and most young adolescents to complete independently and require knowledge and skills that require adult supervision and help for to do safely. For example, knowing how to use sharp knives to cut and chop foods, using poultry shears to cut up a large, raw chicken, finding and inserting the appropriate blade into a food processor and using the processor for different foods, frying foods in oil, then adding food and hot liquid to the frying pan, managing the temperature to keep soups, stews simmering but not boiling over and stirring these without getting burned, carrying a large pot of boiling water to the sink and pouring the water into colander to drain potatoes and avoid getting burned by splashes, steam. Many of these activities would require height and strength many children and young adolescents do not yet have. And wisdom that comes from experience.Many of these tasks could be done by children and young adolescents with help from an adult and would be very good learning experiences for them and enable them to cook independently when they are older.The recipes are great delicious and are well worth the effort.I highly recommend this book to everyone either to be cooked by an adult or to be cooked with a child with close supervision and help to maintain safety.

Passover=Cooking: Don't Forget the Kids
Let My Children Cook is a kid friendly books that is well organized. It starts out with 2 pages of safety tips. The table of contents is easy to follow. The food categories are in an oversized font that is a different color from the recipes. Each section of the book has its own color coded fonts. The recipes range from simple snacks that require minimal preparation and no cooking to complex foods that requires multiple steps and some experience in the kitchen. It would have been helpful to designate a level of difficulty on each recipe. The selection is geared toward a youthful audience who would like to spend time in the kitchen during Passover. Adults will find many recipes enticing. Although I did not have time to test out any of the recipes, the directions appear to be easy to follow. Many of the foods can be eaten year-round. The book also includes a handful of craft projects.

A cookbook for all ages
The subtitle notes that this book is for kids. I think this is a great cookbook for all ages (unless you prefer those recipes with millions of steps and ingredients that take all day to prepare.)Simple, healthy, yummy recipes suitable for Passover and all year long. Salads, soups, smoothies and more. I made the salmon latkes with panko (instead of the listed matzo meal) since it is not Passover and had great results.The illustrations are adorable and make using the recipes fun. Can't wait to try some more of the recipes.

Even expert cooks will get good material rom this book
Although written for children aged eight to fifteen with delightful hilarious drawings, men and women of all ages can profit from this book and enjoy reading it. The book contains over eighty delicious and easy to make recipes as well as two pages of safety tips. Among eighteen safety tips that everyone who cooks should know, and children need to learn, is “put your pot of cooking food on the back burner and turn the pot handles toward the back.” The book has clever fun symbols for every recipe indicating whether the food is meat, dairy, pareve, and the number of servings. It has many clever introductory statements. It is a splendid way to gain children’s interest and introduce them to the joy of cooking. The book is divided into a dozen categories including: very important recipes for Passover, fun finger foods, munch and brunch, soups, fish, meats, chicken, veggies, deserts, and fun arts & crafts. Some of the many recipes are turkey shishkabobs, dried fruit kabobs, matzah brie, scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, stuffed matzah balls, meatloaf, milkshakes, and morocco-style gefilta fish. In her four page fun arts& craft section she has four projects, including making Passover aprons and placemats. One can easily imagine that kids will spend many enjoyable hours as a result of this book.

Great Passover cookbook for kids
My daughter loves to cook with me, and this cook book gives her the attention and descriptions that allow her to do so most independently, which we both appreciate. The pictures and instruction are inviting and meticulous. Though I havent had time to try out any recipes yet, I look forward to doing so as they sound great and appealing to all generations. I am excited to have this addition to my Passover recipe collection!

My kids can't wait to start cooking!
I was only able to browse through this cookbook for a quick minute after it came in the mail this week before my children took it from my hands and started asking when we could start cooking. Bright, colorful, with cute icons and lots of cartoon drawings, the recipes pages are easy enough for kids to make with minimal help from an adult, and the instructions are written simply enough for kids to follow. Also, its printed on shiny, durable paper that looks like it won't tear easily.All the basics are here, like chicken soup, seder needs like charoset, and a variety of kid friendly recipes that aren't the same old tired Pesach regulars. My kids especially want to make the Marshmallow Ice Cream.This is the first kid-focused Pesach cookbook and I'm happy to be adding this one to my collection!
