If you're a fan of Diablo, you must read this book!
If you're a fan of the video game series, a fan of dark fantasy, demons, angels, and all the like, then you should definitely read this book. --**ESPECIALLY**-- of you are a fan of the games. It provides back story on familiar names and the history the games have only touched lightly upon... I don't read as much as I should, and I'm just starting to get back into reading. I had started reading this years ago and decided since I love Diablo so much, that I would finish it. I'm glad I did. I haven't been so enthralled with a book in a looooong time. And with the recent news of Diablo 4 coming out, I knew it was time to learn more about the mythos.Amazing book based on an amazing game!

Very interesting!
I have to admit, I haven't really ever played the Diablo games. Playing for a good 20 minutes on Diablo II 10 years ago doesn't count. That being said, you don't need to be a fan of the games or have played through them to enjoy/understand this story! The story is very rich and never dull. I can't recall a single moment where I was bored. The storyline has me hooked, never faltering! Only complaint on the story is predictability. You can definitely see the plot twists before they're fully revealed. I was still anxious and excited to see them unfold. The characters all have distinct personalities, and none of them are ever neglected. However, I still was never emotionally attached to any of them. They're still interesting regardless.I really recommend this book, even for those who have not played the games. It's shortcomings are very small, while the overall book is thoroughly enjoyable.

If you're a fan of Diablo and it's lore, A MUST BUY !
It's an amazing epic story which gives much momentum to the world of Sanctuary, it's intertwined with the lore of the games and feels just as part of them. Any Diablo fan must read this.

Much bigger then the original pocket book edition.
The book quality is great however do not expect it to have the bubbled lettering it has in book stores. I read this book and it's sequels back in middle school when they came out and the story is just as good now after playing through Diablo 3. True fans of the lore will love this book.

Slow to start but picks up
The book starts at slow but it picks up after about 2 hours. I’m still listening to it now. I will update a little with no spoilers once I finish it.

Slow to unfold however a satisfying read
I personally found this story not to be as exiting as other books Knakk has written however it is a fun journey. The story is very slow to unfold thus creating a small boredom factor in certain parts of the book. However as you near the middle of the book you are forced to read on as the twists and turns within the story lines leave many questions unanswered which is always something to look forward to.I will read the other books in this series as i want these unfull filled questions to finally have an answer. great travel book but by far not the best ive read.3/5

Engaging and fast-paced
I’ve never played the games on which the Sin War trilogy is based, but I do enjoy a good story. And where Richard A. Knaak is concerned, THAT’s what you know you’re gonna get.Uldyssian Ul-Diomed is just a normal guy. A farmer, living with his brother in the village of Seram. Life is hard, but he’s quite content with his lot and is good at what he does. Those who know Uldyssian view him as a no-nonsense individual who can be trusted to deal fairly with those he encounters. Because of this, he’s well respected by his peers . . . until the fateful day religious zealots come to town.Uldyssian can’t stand the hypocrisy that seems to surround anyone who pushes their beliefs in his face. So, when members of the two main faiths wind up dead, suspicion turns his way. He flees his homeland, determined to prove his innocence, one way or the other. The only problem with that is he seems to be developing strange new powers. Powers that no normal man should possess. These events combine, slowly peeling away the façade that has been put in place to keep the populace fooled. Yes, there’s much more to the land in which they live than people realize. And finding out about it can prove deadly . . . as Uldyssian finds out to his cost. This was my introduction to the world of Sanctuary, and I have to say, I was thoroughly absorbed from the outset. Diablo – Birthright, is an engaging, fast-paced tale that will appeal to a wide audience, and draw you in to Uldyssian’s plight as if he was your best friend gone awry. (Despite his penchant for procrastinating). Nonetheless, it’s a great start. I look forward to more.
