The background material is scholarly worked out in the introduction. The material provided for each chapter of the book is excellent. The struggle of the century before the birth of Christ is clearly drawn for the faithful Jews living in Alexandria, Egypt at that time. The unknown author writes in Greek for the Hellenistic period of his day. In simple words God is in charge of the universe and all of us. Have the wisdom to listen.

Great book. Very insightful

I have always appreciated and enjoyed all of the Collegeville commentaries. They are well written and provide useful insight with both theologically and historical critically accurate comments for serious bible study use.
