After two years these work like new and have stayed sharp with no rust. Strongly recommend for light to mid duty trimming.
Let me caveat my review that I have about 8 bushes on my back deck that are in large pots so I use these trimmers to keep the evergreens and rose bushes well groomed. I do not have a garden or lawn. I have now owned these clippers for 2 years. They still work great and are sharp. I do wipe them off before storing them each time after I use them with a dry paper towel. If I had one improvement recommendation for this tool it would be to put some foam or soft rubber on the handles. When spring rolls around it takes me about an hour a bush to properly prune it. So after using these clippers for about 20 minutes my hands do get a little sore from the hard plastic handles. With that said though at least with these clippers I do not have to worry about the cushion cracking and falling apart. So instead I make sure I am wearing gardening gloves when using these to prevent blisters and give my hands some cushioning. When I get started pruning I do not want to stop until I get the bush completed. These clippers are sharp enough and durable so they will cut through some fairly large limbs. I think the key to keeping this tool rust free and in good shape is to wipe it down after use and to try not to use this tool for limbs that are too thick. At this great Amazon price and because these have lasted me so long without issue, I give them a 5 star rating and I strongly recommend them for light to mid duty trimming. If your hands get tired get some nice gardening gloves to give your hands some protection from the hard grips or take a break and grab a glass of iced tea. To date I have had no problems with the clippers locking mechanism or the callabration of the clipping edges.

Good clippers for branches
These are a replacement for a pair of clippers which were of a different design. The clippers work well for pruning, and they are very sharp so excessive force is not required.I should have bought them long ago rather than using its competition.

It is a non rachet clipper that really works for me
Ok I bought 2 of these made by different companies but the same style. I need to start out by saying I am not fond of the rachet types and this is a simply good made clipper that uses a spring to open up after chomping down on a branch. It totally works and even my brother likes the way it bites into overgrown bushes and our nemesis the blackberry bush.My only possible irritation would be the width of the handles. My fingers with gloves on need to stretch a bit to get a firm grip. Of course my hands and fingers are shorter than some.I would recommend this style of clipper to anybody not in love with the rachet style clipper.

these are great shears
I admittedly don't have a lot of gardening experience or experience using shears but i bought a pack of the rachetting ones last year and was not very happy with them as they were always getting locked and I would have to stop pruning to unlock it which was very frustrating. These do not have that problem, they have a safety lock but it's actually a little hard to put on and you will never put it on accidentally which is nice. It is easy to figure out how to lock it you just have to press the handles together pretty hard to get it in position to lock it. There is a coating on the blades to handle sap which is a great thing and they have worked really well. I find them easier to operate the the rachetting ones which are supposed to be easier to get power but these blades are sharper which makes a bigger difference. Very happy with these. Only had them for a few months so I can't speak to their longevity yet.

Great value for the price.
Easily as well-made as pruners that cost $25-$30. Great value.

Is there such a thing as a perfect pruner? These come very close!
These are my favorite pruners of all time. They sharpen with a file and stay flexible with a shot of WD-40. The problem is with the locking catch. If you are not careful it can get squashed. That is the only flaw..

Great for light use, not great for heavy use.
First off, these are nice. They feel nice, look nice and are mostly well built. The problem I have is I own a small orange grove in Arizona with 50 citrus trees and about 20 more fruit trees. I tested these out on our rose bushes first and they were great. However, after heavy use on our spring cut back, they started to show their limitations. 2 Key issues: The rubber handle twists and slides after heavy use, which is annoying and somewhat of a safety concern. Next, the bolt that holds that pivots the blades is constantly coming loose and so the shears bend and twist if you're cutting anything greater than, say 3/8". Again - if you have a couple small bushes, roses, etc - they're perfect. If you plan to use them constantly, they won't last.

Great pruners
Fantastic pruners, very sharp and easy to use on the hands. Maintenance is key though to keep it lasting thru the years.
