Nice and bright
These are very bright leds. I was a bit dismayed when I read the datasheet, which implied that you need a mains powered led driver to operate them. However, they will work quite happily from a battery power supply and I found that 3 in series will shine very brightly from a 12 volt dc battery supply. I haven't been running them long enough to work out how quickly they'll drain the batteries. The leds are sturdily mounted on aluminium, which also acts as a heatsink and you can solder wires to the surface mounted contacts, which are helpfully labelled + and -.
