No Name Brand, Great heater!
I was in the market for a small ceramic heater and I did the usual Google and Amazon research. The consensus #1 small ceramic was the Lasko 754200 which I bought. Even though the Lasko has thousands of great reviews I was disappointed with the performance of the heater, it's quite but it just does not produce that much heat even when only a few feet away. Now for the Nikko lighting heater, I knew the minute I turned it on the it was in a different league than the Lasko. Now to be fare, the Nikko costs twice as much as the Lasko and is 30% larger. The fan on the Nikko is louder then the Lasko but has 50% more air flow. The Nikko has three settings and for me medium is perfect, high is actually too hot.The Nikko is full of safety features and is UL listed. Why should you care about UL? Basically it's the industry standard to protect you from fire in case of catostrophic failure. Most heaters are not UL listed, it's expensive to attain and requires multiple hardware design safety features.I have never heard of Nikko Lighting, Google and YouTube are full of reviews of this heater but seems like most reviewers were given free heaters in exchange for a review. I take no stock in any review that is traded for free product. Matter of fact I refuse to read any reviews that are part of Amazons vine program where reviewers are give free product in exchange for their "honest" review.I bought this heater with my hard earned money and have no clue who Nikko Lighting is but I know one thing, this is a great heater!

NO 1. Heater
It's a safe space heater, that I prefer to have in a small-enclosed room (UNDER 250 SQUARE FEET). There are 4 settings:LOW, MED and HIGH HEAT, 1 X FAN SPEED and ADJUSTABLE THERMOSTAT. Unlike competing Heater Company's the PH-161 has been tested and Certified by Under Writers Laboratory and the specifications and features is exactly as described in this Amazon Listing. The PH-161 is the replacement for the Nikko 168 and have the same identical UL listing number. I ended up purchasing both models. Powerful 5128 BTU ceramic heater motor will warm up any small room. The fan does emit some noise, but it does not bother me, I will normally sleep through it. Located in the back of the heater is a removable dust filter, not to many heaters have this feature, which prolongs the life of the heater motor from functioning. Underneath the heater is a tip-over switch, I placed the heater at a 45-degree angle and the heater will shut off. I found no issues with the tip over switch from malfunctioning or jamming and I tested this, more then once. Another feature that I liked, is the automatic over heat shut off, I placed a blanket onto the heater, then within 15 seconds the the heater shuts-off. Located on the top rear side, is the carrying handle, which is cool to touch. The Ph-161 is small and lightweight in size, which is moveable and I used it in the home office, guest room, basement and camper. It is a safe and versatile heater, which functions well and I can highly recommend.

A great heater for small spaces and temperature chal;lenged rooms
This is an efficient, and effective easy to use heater. I live in an attic room, which has some unique temperature control issues. Heat from the rest of the house rise up to this room, while the cold air from outside flows down. This results in both an actual breeze flowing out of my room, and severe temperature differences between my room and the rest of the house. The central heat will either not be on because the rest of the house is at the set temp, or constantly running because of the cold air coming out of my room. Thus my room is either freezing or too hot. Th Nikko heater has actually balanced that out, making my room more consistently one temperature annd helpinmgh the central heat run more efficiently. It is also pretty quiet ... an added bonus. The only reason I ddin't give it 5 stars is that I rarely give ANYTHING 5 stars. Heater 1500 Watt (UL Listed) By Nikko Lighting with Automatic Thermostat -- Power Protection Light Switch Indicator / Thermal Over Heat Shut-off Protection System / Safety Tip Over Switch / 3 Heat (Low, Med, High) Settings Plus 1 X FAN Speed Setting / Removable Dust Filter / Passed the Strict UL Listing Safety Compliance.

First unit had serious vibration issues, replacement was somewhat better
First unit showed up with an eccentric fan. It would vibrate enough that you could feel the floor thump and over the course of a few minutes, the unit would be facing 90 degrees away from where it was pointed! Sent back to amazon and got a replacement unit. While the fan still doesn't sound completely level, this one stays pointed where its supposed to. The front grille of the unit does get hot, but the sides stay nice and cool to the touch. Also, the instructions were a little vague on what the two dials actually control. The right dial controls the temperature at which the unit clicks on and off based on a temperature sensor. I couldn't set it low enough to keep my baby's room below 70, so I ended up using a plug-in timer instead. I hooked it up to a kill-a-watt to measure, and the left dial sets the wattage for how much heat is being generated. Fan = 0W (on the heating element), low = 500W, med = 1000W, and Hi = 1500W.Aside from the fan balancing, the build quality seems good. The tip detector definitely is a great add, and the unit is fairly quiet. Fan power is relatively low, you won't feel a breeze from across the room, it's just enough air flow to get the power from the coils into the air, probably noticeable from 8 feet away max.

I've had this heater for exactly one year and am overall satisfied. The 3 stars represent my relatively high expectations before buying the product and based on previous (glowing) reviews. It does the job but overall, it is just a bit noisier and the thermostat tracking needs just a bit too much tweaking (whenever there is a significant temp change outside).

The heat is comfortable, it doesn't make your eyes and skin dry
I bought this heater a few month ago, using it every day for about 30 min on average. No problems so far.It stays in my bathroom, I let it run for 5 minutes before using a shower. The temperature goes up from approximately 16C to 25C.Sometimes I work in my basement where it is quite cold. I place this heater about 2 meters away from me pointing towards me and it keeps me warm. The heat is comfortable, it doesn't make your eyes and skin dry. The noise is minimal.I used a number of heaters of different types and brands. I think I trust this heater more than others and does the job done. It is nicely built and feels reliable. I am planning to buy a second one.

Not cute but does the job
My lo sleeps through the night now with an extra toasty room! (We bought it for basement guests) keeps things warm, no issues. Kinda cheap looking and small. Not the easiest to set desired temperature- but works well!

Very happy with this heater.
An excellent heater. The front does get hot so it's not appropriate for a child's room but I am pleased with the performance and safety so I am using it for our spare bedroom. The safety aspect was especially important to me!
