An Amazing Story
This is a great story that leaves many wondering if the great bear still exists in Colorado. David Peterson does a superb job of putting all of the pieces together, and if you frequent the South San Wilderness of Colorado, you keep an keen eye out for bears with a shoulder hump, "dished" face, and extra long claws. In my many trips to the area, I have yet to spot the mighty grizz, but the land is big and it's not easy to get to all the places that a grizz could hide. A good "bear knowledgeable" friend swears he saw a grizzly in the eastern Weminuche in the summer of 2002, so it leaves me wondering. Back to the book, if you love a great factual based story, that plays out all the angles of the potential for grizzlies in the rugged mountains of southwestern Colorado, then you MUST have this book. This is a much more complicated issue than one realizes before reading this book.

Extremely Well Written
This is a great book about how some species can dramatically change their lifestyle in order to avoid human detection. It goes to show that we don't know as much about our environment ( or the species we share it with) as we think we do.
