Noble Locks Mac Book Air 13" Lock kit

I have tried a number of locks for 13 inch Mac Air laptop, and I think this is the best option available.The Noble Lock is basically an aluminum strip that mounts to the bottom of the laptop via 4 screws. You have to remove 4 original screws and mount the all metal strip with 4 longer screws supplied with the lock kit. The kit also comes with a special screw driver you'll need to remove and install the screws. The metal strip has a slot on the right back corner that allows insertion of the custom Noble cable lock.Pros:sturdy all metal construction, low profile, allows normal operation of the laptop (ok to open and close the lap top), doesn't block any port opening, well designed 6 ft flexible cable & key lock, easy to use once installed.Cons: expensive at $70, you can only use the Noble keyed cable lock (a standard Kensington style computer lock won't fit), a combination type lock is not available, the longer replacement screw seems to be of lesser quality than the original (one of the new screw was already stripped out of the package), only a deterrent (if you can remove the 4 little screws, then the laptop is freed. Yes, it's a star shaped screw driver, but any flat screw driver small enough to fit will turn the screws)Given these Cons, I still think this is the best option to lock down a Mac air. I knocked off one star for the poor quality replacement screws; however, the kit comes with 2 extra screws.I wish Apple put a standard lock slot in their laptops...

easy to install. Seems to be strong enough to be an appropriate deterrent but I would not count on it in a public place for a prolonged absence.

My biggest worry was that it would make the back part of my Mac too tall, and that would be uncomfortable. But some hours after starting using it you even forget it's there. Great design also. I recommend it!

I received this lock today and the quality is terrible and it does not work at all!- My lock pin does not fit into the bracket's hole at all. I can not push the lock mechanism forward to lock it at all. This shows the terrible production quality of the product. The hole of the bracket is simply to small and not properly and not precisely cut.- The lock mechanism seems very bad quality. You can feel the springs in the lock when pushing the lock mechanism forward and when unlocking the spring does not always properly pull back the lock pin. Mechanical construction feels week and bad quality - especially compared to Kensington locks or similar.- Keys unlock by pushing the key in and not by rotating. I doubt the security of that. Also, keys are hard to put into the lock, the mechanical construction is bad. Keys don't slide in properly.- I received it as loose items in a shipping box without product packaging.- The screwdriver is a standard Macbook/Apple screwdriver with longer standards Apple screws; which means everyone that has such a cheap screwdriver can unscrew the 4 screws in 40 seconds and walk away with the macbook.
