A 5 star product marred by some technical flaws
Great smooth sounding little machine, with reasonable amount of bass and a believable soundstage. With the lo price tag, it would have easily scored a 5 star from any pair of ears. HOWEVER, there is one very big issue for MAC users. When u run USB asynchronous connection with file t 96kHz or above, it will produce2 or 3 click sound (like a dirty LP would) for every song file. For co-axial connection its not a problem. Very sad indeed for those MAC lovers like me, who innocently bought a mac mini that is placed alongside this very matching little french toast. Micromega mentioned this problem on the website, and recommends us to switch to USB 1.0 connection to mitigate the problem, but it really feels stupid. The product was built for MAC users (no drivers required), but now seems Windows PC users are the one smiling happily while enjoying this otherwise-miracle sounding box..Micromega, we are waiting for your new driver to fix this....

If your a mac user you'll be disappointed
I had the same problems others had using a mac. The dac has a defect with usb. Not surprised Micromega is not active in America anymore. I give 2 stars because toslink and coaxial sounds good.

Worth Every Penny!
After connecting the Micromega MyDac to my Mac Mini using an Audioquest Forest USB cable and a 20 foot run of Monster Cable 300 series audio cable to my Denon 2311cl receiver and opening iTunes to Mr Acker Bilk all I can say is I am very glad I purchased this relative inexpensive dac by today's audio price standards. The Denon is running in the pure audio setting so the sound to my Norman Lab Towers (vintage and no longer available) is pure MyDAC. The vocals are crisp and clear and the instruments are clean and uncluttered. If you are new to the world of computer audio and want a room filling sound that will surpass anything your computer alone can produce then you should give this serious consideration.

They say is sounds wonderful, if you get that far
I found driver installation instructions through on-line searches (they aren't in the provided manual), I spent far too many hours trying to get it to be recognized by my Windows 10 computer. I eventually gave up on installing it with my Windows 10 computer. By eventually, I mean I gave up after sending emails to Micromega asking for some kind of support, and getting no response at all. Next I attempted to use my Windows 7 computer. For it, I succeeded in loading the drivers, and having it appear in the the Devices section of Control Panel. However, I haven't yet succeeded in getting sound out of it. It just turns off my speakers. I'm holding out hope that I won't end up throwing it in the trash.

Made in France.
Great asynchronous DAC for connected to tube headphone amplifier. Price is much better than comparable same quality other brands.Best of all it's made in the country of origin France! That's rare.

@ USD 370, this is sure pick among rDAC, VDAC2, DacIT or DAC Magic. Excellent presentation, great detail, good separation.

Excellent little Dac
After using the Audioengine D1, the HRT microStreamer and Audioquest Dragonfly, I've opted to try the MyDac and glad I did. For its general price range - under $450 - it's the best or among the very best out there. Excellent tonality, soundstage, detail, etc. Only lacking is in musical speed and lower end punch. That's why I'd give it 4.5 stars if the choice were here, although on an absolute scale it's really in the 3.5-4 star range. The MyDac is certainly getting almost universal raves by reviewers and from what I hear is developing a cult following (don't believe the What Hi-Fi review that it's unlistenable in long sessions without checking yourself). One other thing it does is switch devices well. I have a 2.0 TV setup with Toslink, where I got sound dropout with the AE D1 about half the time, whether switching between or within devices. With the MyDac, there hasn't been any dropout whatsoever.
