Great hold
I find this product to have an excellent hold with a minimal, pleasant aroma and no visible evidence that it is in place. It is water-based and washes out easily. I have tried several grooming clays, and, to me, this is the best.

All day hold without ANY shine!!
I have been using this product for about 3 years now!! I am a 34 year old male who has found his "holy grail product"I basically just need a simple product that will raise up my hair in the front.Duration: The hold will last 12 hours. I have slept with this product and the next day my hair needs slight fixing up. I typically re-administer more product the next day.Consistency: THICK- super thick. You only need a small amount and it will do the job. One jar will last me one year. Keep in mind that I only style the front of my headProduct drying: The product dries instantly. I have black hair and something I need was a product that did not leave white flakes. I do not want to walk around looking like I have dandruff! This product leaves no residue and leave a nice matte finish. At times you really have to work it in to make sure there are no white speckles in your hair.Texture: Thick, not greasy, kinda waxy. No shine.* attached photos are after having product in hair for 8 hours

Not strong enough hold, strong smell
Pros:-It was very easy to wash out. Didn't leave a build up residue.-It didn't leave my hair feeling dry/damaged. It was almost like it was a leave in conditioner.-It had a very pleasant smell.Cons:-The smell is strong. While it doesn't necessarily waft in the air like a cologne, it will 100% interfere with the "scent" you're trying to achieve and overpower any lighter fragrances. If you don't wear cologne or only wear "woodsy-ish" fagrance then it probably isn't an issue.-The hold was just ok and I tried it with wet, damp, and dry hair. Now I have thick hair with a slight wave/curl. This may be enough of a hold if you have thinner hair though.-The price. It's expensive.Overall, if you can afford it and my cons aren't cons for you, then it is a wonderful product.

Great for women too!
I have a short cut with longer bangs and fringe in front--a mod cut, shall we say. This stuff is dang good for giving your hair nice lift. it has a dry matte texture, so there's none of that gunky feel. I hestitated to spend so much on hair goop but I find its nearly invisible lifting, texturizing, and thickening qualities are worth the price. It works best applied to dry or only slightly damp hair. I like how my hair feels, as well as how it looks. You can get by on a surprisingly small amount. It has only the slightest scent, that pleasant Aveda scent that dissipates quickly. Aveda favors natural ingredients and that's a real plus. Remember ladies: just because it's marketed for guys doesn't mean we can't use it! Your guy might try to steal it--he'll love the way it provides so much lift and control while remaining exceptionally discreet--so at this price, keep it well-hidden.

Not greasy. Not perfumed. Not heavy.
Not greasy. Not perfumed. Not heavy. I apply one large drop to the palms of my hands and then rub my palms together until they are covered with this grooming clay. Then I rub my hair with my palms. Then I lightly brush my hair. That’s it.
