Bought this to read to my grand daughter. She enjoyed the drawings very much and my retelling of the text, to suit a 5 year old. Very beautiful drawings.

I am a retired second grade teacher. I would read this story to my students every year, discussing how we could each help and give respect to our environment. I bought this book for my brand new grandson so that he too will respect and appreciate our Mother Earth.

This book can make you cry. As Chief Seattle was about to sign over the land of his people to the Americans that more or less demanded it, he made the most beautiful and touching speech about the sanctity of the land. Susan Jeffers is an outstanding illustrator. Every page contains her art work and overlayed is the text of the speech. There is a two piece spread where you can find symbols hidden in the artwork. The children really loved these pages. But all of them are outstanding and show the greatest respect for the Native Americans and their love of the earth. This book will bring a tear to the eye of many readers, mine included.

I've used this book in my classroom and with my grandchildren. Chief Seattle makes vital suggestions about taking care of the earth. In this time of climate change this is particularly important book. It is beautifully written and illustrated.

This is a wonderful book that I have used in my classroom for years for ALL ages. It has a powerful message all of us need to hear. The pictures are OUTSTANDING!!! I bought 2 copies from Amazon to give as gifts to 2 children who now are old enough to appreciate it.

A must-have book to share with kids of all ages. Really gets conservation conversation moving in the right direction without the guilt-trip. Not the first copy I've owned and it won't be the last. I just keep passing them out as the children in my life reach the stage of understanding.

This is a hard to find edition of this beautiful story that was written so many years ago. Great for adults and children.

This was a much loved book when my children were small. Now I have bought it for my Grandson. This is a book all parents/Grandparents should read to their children. It arrived from the U.S. in perfect condition and I could not be happier with it.

Nice story

I had no idea what to expect. I ordered this for my 2 yr old indigenous daughter so we will have more cultural stories to read (we read a LOT)... and from the moment I opened the book, the beauty of the illustrations here actually shocked me! It’s all sooo beautiful. Just stunning.The speech is a bit intense for my little one, but for now I just edit out the war and blood part when I read it aloud, and just read her the cultural teachings. She loves the pictures, and the message of the book itself will definitely be readable for her for many years to come.
