Simple, functional, dependable -- the best
I used several probe thermometers and this is the best. I like being able to easily set the alarm temp. This is better than other models that have preset temps. I often want to set a temp other than the preset. The timer is also useful. Clear, simple interface. Large, legible display. Dependable performance. Probe wire tolerance of high oven temps is essential. As far as reports of the probe being affected by immersion in water, I simply wipe the end of the probe with a damp sponge.

Works awesome but can shut it off
Very easy to use and understand (I used it to make steaks and finally can use right temp for medium lol)Only down side? No off button...so I just took the battery off 🤷🏻♂️

Perfect for yogurt-making!
Excellent product! I use it for making greek yogurt, and it fits my needs perfectly. I have the "high" and "low" temps pre-set, so I can just stick the thermometer in, press the button for the high temp alert. When it beeps, I just take the milk off the heat and press the same button, and it beeps when it has cooled to the right temp. Couldn't ask for more! The only disappointment was that the metal clip to attach it firmly to the pot didn't actually fit on the thermometer, so I can't use it. So I have to be a bit more careful of the cord, but it's a good length so I don't have to worry too much. Great price for the functionality!

Just what I needed for yogurt-making
I'm quite pleased with this gadget so far. I've used it twice now for yogurt-making (set to alarm when the temperature cools to a given point), and it's easy to set and has a very clear alarm. The probe clip confused me briefly at first, until I realized you need to squeeze the clip together before inserting the probe into the clip (there's a picture with arrows for that in the instructions, but the text of the instructions doesn't mention it). My only complaint is that there's no way to turn it off between uses (short of removing the battery), which feels a bit wasteful since I sure don't need yet another clock in my kitchen.

disappointed
I bought this based on reviews in Cook's Illustrated. Unfortunately I bought it AFTER I needed it last time but well before I needed again, so its been sitting in a drawer and now that I finally used it is too late to return/exchange. I bought it to use for candy making -- before even starting I found that the holes for the probe to clip on the side of the pan were not lined up well, and it was nearly impossible to get the clip onto the probe. Once I got it on, because they were not lined up well it was very difficult to get it in just the right position on the pan, and impossible to adjust further as needed once in the middle of cooking. 2nd and even more importantly, it is VERY SLOW to read a temp, and I'm skeptical that it is completely accurate -- I was suspicious about the accuracy because I just ruined a batch of caramel that burned while I was waiting for the thermometer to read 350 (it was only about 330) I tried checking by testing it in a pan of boiling water -- it seemed like it longer to get 212 than a thermometer marketed as being good for making candy, and it didn't even seem to get to 212 every time (I checked a few times). If I could return this (or at least exchange and try one more) I absolutely would!!

Easy to use. Clear read out
This was purchased as a replacement for my 20+ year-old trusty bulb candy thermometer that broke. I make caramels at least once a month and cannot live without a candy thermometer. So as soon as I received my new thermometer I of course made a batch of caramels. The readout is very clear, the clip worked just fine on my pot. I was able to adjust the depth of the probe to get an accurate reading. When the caramel reached the correct temp, the probe and clip came off the side of the pot smoothly allowing me to pour the caramel in the pan. I would recommend this product.

Use to make chocolate toffee crunch. Worked well except for Alarm!
As the title says, I have used this in the past to make chocolate toffee crunch. The toffee comes out perfectly. Now, unlike other people who have reviewed here, I have not used another candy thermometer so I have nothing to compare this to. Also, I have only used it for this one recipe, which if you ever tried would agree that it was worth the price of the thermometer!Regarding the thermometer, the clips to keep it attached to my cuisinart 2 qt work fine. The thermometer seems accurate. As they say, the proof is in the pudding so I can't tell if the temperature is accurate, just that when I take the toffee off the burner at the temperature indicated on the thermometer (and in the recipe), it comes out perfectly. One side note though...My advice is to not count on the alarm giving you fair warning that the temperature is approaching. Perhaps I have not been able to figure out how to use the alarm properly, but I set it for 280 degrees F to give me a little warning before it hit 290 degrees and it didn't go off until after it had already reached 290 and I had it off the burner. Luckily I was watching. Therefore, make sure you WATCH the temperature and (another tip) make sure you watch it very closely as it closely approaches the temp that you need as it goes pretty fast then.Hope this helps.

Great value
I had this model for years and would still be using it if I hadn't dropped it in the water filled sink. Registers quickly and accurately. I've used it to check oven temperature. I would like to keep this as long as possible.

Great Product
I bought this to replace an earlier version that I have used for several years. The old one just wore out from wear and tear, so I bought an updated item from the same manufacturer. It has a few more options than my old model that I am working my way through. I use it for candy, meat but mostly for homemade bread. I wait until the bread starts to develop a crust (about 15 - 20 minutes) and then insert the probe. Set the alarm to 200F and the bread comes out perfectly baked. Prior to this, I always had trouble determining when the bread was sufficiently done.

CDN Leave-In Probe
Ottimo.

Versatile Probe!
I haven't used it many times yet but am pleased with all the functions and I can watch the food temperature without opening the oven door. The numbers are a good size and the unit itself is magnetic. As I have a double oven, I can attach it to the oven door at eye level, which is a bonus. This was bought at an extremely attractive sale price, as I have seen it elsewhere for double the price I paid for it.
