PRIVACY WARNING! I’ve purchased 3 versions of these mini cameras (7 cameras total) over the last year and a half and only recently found what I would consider a substantial issue with privacy/security. The first two versions of the camera used a phone app called BVCam which searched you local home network for camera devices and then would display them in the app. When you left your home network the cameras were no longer accessible as you would expect. However, under the latest version of the camera the manufacturer recommends a similar Phone app called MUCam. The app is almost identical to the first however I noticed that upon leaving my house to run errands, I was still getting motion detection notifications through the app for both the new cameras and two of my older cameras. This was concerning because I never set anything up that should have allowed it to connect to my phone from behind my home firewall. It turns out five of my seven cameras have been contacting three different IP addresses on port 10200. The IP addresses are owned by Alibaba in California, an AWS instance in Seattle, and more concerningly, and IP address in China that I have been able to find little information about. Do I necessarily believe these are malicious connections? No. Do I have any confidence that these cameras and the servers they are connecting to are secure and ensure my privacy? ABSOLUTELY NOT! As I said, five of my seven cameras, including the older cameras, were now accessible from outside my home network which means that the older cameras have been contacting these servers for no apparent reason since the original phone app shipped from the manufacture never provided the ability to connect to the cameras from outside of my home network. The features, picture quality, and overall technology built into these devices is quite good, however, like most IOT devices, security is an afterthought and something consumers should be aware of when purchasing these types of devices.

I ordered two of these products and only had them for a couple days before things started breaking. I had separate issue for each item. Was only able to get one of them up and running since the other one broke almost immediately after having removed from box. At least I was able to evaluate the quality on one of them, and even then, the results were not positive. The live video quality was not impressive, picture contained a banding like distortion shaped as horizontal line about that started at the top and moved all the way down to the bottom at about 1 per second, kind of like a wave. The other device, the camera came off the ribbon cable almost as if the cable was perforated. After examining the camera, I determined it probably come off due to the metal backing being too long, causing the sharp edge to extend past the camera's plastic frame and rub right up against the ribbon cable. Any movement likely continued weakening each edge of the ribbon cable. Other then that, on the device i did get working, i can't turn it off anymore because the little white switch came off!!also the close up picture of camera in ad does not appear to be same camera as what i got..see included pictures.

This little camera is exceptional for the price. It gives true 1080p resolution with lower resolution options. The app is simple to use and setting it up with your internet network is easy. For the price you simply aren’t going to find anything better. Here’s some drawbacks:The battery is only going to give you around 4 hours of record time. This is a hidden camera, but I was able to place it close to a plug and just kept the USB plugged into the wall. It has been on and working for the past month with no issue.When pressing the record button on your app it will start recording. However, if your phone goes to sleep the recording will be stopped. When I want to record longer than a minute or two, I go into my phone’s settings to prevent it from going to sleep at all and change it back when I’m done.You can upload recorded videos straight from the app to Google Drive, Dropbox, etc...through the share button. This will help if you don’t have a large micro SD installed.I’ve found that there is a lag on the audio when recording if the camera is not placed where it can get good sound. Again, just a minor drawback for the low price of this camera.If you don’t want to break the bank and want a good little camera that has true HD capabilities, then this is a good buy. There are a few drawbacks, but nothing I haven’t been able to work around.

This camera is great! I wanted something to put at my door to see what goes on while I'm not home and to see who comes to my door. It has great picture quality to be such a small device. It's also easy to hide since it is so small. It is easy to set up and use.

I was amazed that I actually got this thing to work The instructions are chaotic at best. The first thing they tell you to do is to charge the battery for 4-6 hours but fail to tell you how to do it. Then you are pretty much on your own. Seems to have a lot of features but gives you no clue on how to use any of them. I still can't figure out how to record, if I'm recording or how to retrieve a recording. Unless you are extremely tech savvy, this camera is not for you. I wanted to use this to monitor my boat at its dock but as far as I can tell, it doesn't work without a WiFi connection.

There is no option to change to 1080p. If you are buying this for 1080p resolution, do not even bother. False advertisement. Amazon please review this vendor. Installing the plugin could potentially grant them control over your device. Do not download anything software. Just use it in AP mode.

One cannot have access remotely. Despite all efforts it doesn't allow you to monitor remotely. In addition it never records outside the app, if you press the button for recording and you left the app this thing doesn't continue recording even when you have looping recording activated. Disappointing...
