This is not only a complete guide to the kosher kitchen, but it is a beautiful book as well. Artscroll quality cannot be beat. This is a book you will definitely want to keep and refer to again and again. Unless you are raised Jewish and already know how to keep a kosher kitchen and observe the dietary laws, this book will teach you all you need to know.There are so many questions and subjects dealt with that I could not even think to ask. It is enjoyable just to read a little at a time, or to keep as a reference. I love the way the author addresses different situations and problems that might arise. I really can't say enough about this book, except that you will not be disappointed. I ordered the "Spice and Spirit" cookbook at the same time I ordered this one, and with just these two volumes, I have been able to learn both Jewish guidelines and the preparation of the foods.I will keep this book as part of my permanent library, and you will, too, if you purchase it.

Rabbi First does it again. Great job. Very easy and clear piskei halacha. Gives you a lot of background information, which I like. Really helpful to study or to use as a handbook.I purchased it a few months back for myself and now I purchased it on Amazon and sent it to my niece who is getting married. A must have for anyone that keeps a kosher kitchen.

This book assumes a working knowledge of kashrut however I know that rabbi forst holds differently that my own rabbanim on various issues so make sure to consult your own to see what he holds. Otherwise well explained and very organized. I find this to be a go to book about what the strictest people hold although he does also indicate where there are leniencies and when that is the majority opinion.

I've been frum and keeping kosher my whole life, but ever since I got married, I realized there is so much I don't know! This book makes everything extremely clear and is very easy to follow. The format is well organized, and he sources everything he says so you know where it's all coming from.

Alot of great information

Very good glossary / index. You find anything you are looking for and find info about milk meat parve kashering teviilah. A must have for any "kosher kitchen".
