Tarot for Your Self: A Workbook for Personal Transformation by Mary K Greer (2002-03-01) Paperback – 1720

I love this book and own 3 copies. The early 1980's one I took apart and put in a binder for easy use and keep at home for privacy purposes. Later I purchased the 2002 version and the kindle version. The update let's me carry it to whatever setting I chose. The kindle one let's me share the wisdom with others when the topic if tarot comes up.It's a heart book for internalizing tarot and making it your own.

This is a terrific foundation book for people learning the Tarot and wanting to learn more than you find in the little white book that accompanies most decks. Mary takes you through how to get the most from your desk from finding your birth card to various reading techniques. She is engaging to read and makes you feel welcome in your ever expanding use of Tarot.It is a great workbook to help you explore the Tarot and find your way to reading for yourself and others. I recommend this book to every person who is either just picking up a deck or looking for more exploration into Tarot.

Somehow I am having trouble connecting with this book... I like the author and her other books but for whatever reason this one did not take my breath away...Update: I think I did not spend enough time with this workbook to really appreciate everything it has to offer. I decided to give it another try and I am updating my review to 5 Stars. Its very informative and offers knowledge I did not find anywhere else. In case you are having trouble connecting with Tarot for YourSelf at first please give it another try. I am so glad I did.

Well written with lots of information as you work through the workbook. Information includes personal cards based on various other concepts such as numerology and astrology. Useful templates for building a tarot journal and working with the cards. I recommend using a traditional tarot deck with a good guidebook and symbols. I am using the Linestrider Tarot deck with the workbook and have found that it is a very simple design, lacking some of the imagery that other decks offer (I recommend the deck, but know there are some with more to the images). Combine the exercises with the appendices in the book and the wealth of information online, and you can easily delve into the world of tarot. This workbook is designed to help you connect with each card and really understand how it fits into your personal life allowing for more insightful readings for yourself and others.

This book is a must have for anyone who would like to truly get to know their cards and themselves. Go into this book with an open mind and be ready to just go with Mary's instructions. Sometimes it gets a little strange (lots of "imagining" with the cards and meditation) but if you work with the exercises, you'll learn so much faster. I originally got this from the library, but I had to have a physical copy to keep!Seriously - if you ever want to read tarot, you'll need this book.

I love this book gives you examples how to combine tarot cards and tell a story ,it has great exercises. I'm so happy with my purchase.

I have been reading Tarot since January 1975, and in that time I have read all kinds of books to develop my abilities, and keep my skills fresh. One of the very best I have ever read is "Tarot For Yourself". By the time I read it, I'd already been reading and teaching Tarot for more than 20 years, but it was still a revelation. There are not enough stars to rate it accurately! I felt refreshed and recharged by the exercises in it, and believe that it brought my understanding to a whole new level. I immediately recommended it to my more advanced students, and gave several copies to my closest friends.In fact, my most recent post in my Tarot Blog was largely devoted to this excellent book. I am learning so much from the activities in this book. I decided to purchase a new deck specifically to work with the book, and it has opened even greater doors to understanding. I think anyone who enjoys reading tarot should work through this book.
