Only digital to analog convertor I've found with ir volume control
I'm a corporate audio video engineer so my entertainment system is a mess of consumer and pro equipment. This causes all kinds of headaches. My biggest challenge was the fact the optical out of my display is a fixed volume and I am using a crown amplifier with no ir control. Yeah yeah I should just get a standard rcvr but what's the fun in that? Instead of adding even more audio equipment for dsp volume I found this product. Awesome device. Optical out of my display to analog into my audio switch into the amplifier. All my other devices have volume control and now my display does too. I have the gain structure set slightly loud for max volume which gives me the headroom I need to stop messing with those attenuation knobs on my amp. Wished I'd got this sooner

TALK ABOUT PLUG AND PLAY
Purchased a new 49" 4k tv for the master bedroom to replace the 39" led that was moved to the guest bedroom. The led tv had low level audio output to connect to my wireless headphones receiver. The low level audio outputs allowed me to plug in the wireless headphones without cutting out the tv speakers. If i used the headphone jack on the tv the tv speakers would cutoff. Fine if you wanted to reach behind the wall mounted tv to plug and unplug the headphones...NOT.Anyway i was surprised to see the only audio out on the 49" 4k tv was a digital audio optical and a headphone jack. I thought about purchasing a sound bar to resolve this problem but didnt really need a sound bar for the bedroom. Then i found this digital audio optical converter to low level or headphone. Wow...talk about plug and play. The tv's volume control has no effect on digital audio out, the headphones are loud and clear and the boss(wife) doesnt come into the bedroom complaining the tv is to loud. NICE

At last! A solution to connect computer speakers to Samsung tv!
Lifesaver! Literally spent months looking for this solution and became quite the A/V nerd in the process. Here’s the deal:Situation: Have a Bose Companion 3 from 2006 that still sounds and works great. In order to keep the Bose system as my audio source when watching movies/tv, I’ve simply been watching media through my laptop that’s connected to my Samsung smart tv. Finally got a Fire TV Stick for all the great browsing features but now want to keep my Bose for the sound.Problem: Bose Companion 3 are designed mainly as computer speakers connected via a 3.5mm jack and Samsung smart tv doesn’t have a headphone jack (thanks, Samsung). There’s an audio out 3.5mm jack, but it’s not analogue which means if I plug in the Bose there’s no way to control the volume. Found digital to analogue audio converters, but now the issue is that the only means of volume control with the Bose Companion series is through the control pod that plugs to the woofer. So still need to find a way to get a remote for my lazy self to be able to control the volume from my couch (this is America, darn it!). There were some IR remote configurations I was reading about but it was all quite a hassle.Solution: THIS DEVICE. It’s so simple! Plug one end of the included cable into the device and the other end into the tv’s digital audio out port. Plug my Bose’s 3.5mm aux cable into the device. Use the included volume remote control to my heart’s content!! It’s really small too which is nice since it doesn’t take up much space.Only con is that the green and red LED lights in the front when it’s on are obnoxiously bright. The picture I attached doesn’t do it justice. I’ve been putting electrical tape over them. Also, I found out that the remote control can’t be replaced separately. So if you lose it you have to buy the whole package again. The remote is pretty small and featherlight too, so be careful because it seems like it could easily be misplaced. All in all, I’m super stoked. This $20 converter/remote saved me hundreds in having to buy a new dedicated sound bar and/or tv speakers!

Great DAC with a unique feature
I have been testing this unit with my new subwoofer and the lg oled tv that came with built in soundbar but the bass was too bad. This DAC helped pairing a subwoofer with the tv and im satisifeid with the consistentcy and results. This unit has a unique feature, it has built in volume control, i have not seen any other converter with this feature built into the unit. The build quality is excellent, design is good.A user mentioned issue with ir remote but i did not had any issue sending command but the only negative is that the indicator lights are tiny and difficult to see from distance but can still be seen. For my use with subwoofer i did not encounter a problem with any signal fed into it wheather dolby or dts signal to subwoofer, i highly recommend it.

Nice having external sound.
Flat screen TV's with internal speakers are fiercely mediocre to just bad.ProAdding this really helped with my sound output to real speakers.Very easy to install.Nice that they also have a small jack output for sound as well.Read previous reviews about turning off 5.1 sound outputs, this is very important.ConThe remote is kind of sketchy but functions. You are just not sure if the button presses were successful. The LED's on the front are way to small. It is hard to see what the unit is doing especially with the sketchy remote. The volume control is a bit ham fisted. It kind of works like asking your 3 year old to adjust the volume. It takes patience to set.Once you get comfortable with operating this device you will be fine

Works great.
I love how this has allowed me to connect a Bluetooth transmitter to the TV enabling me to listen through my headphones or hearing aids independent of the TV's speaker system. The remote can be a LITTLE bit tricky, but, all in all, VERY PLEASED with this purchase.

so I got this box to decode the digital output of the TV to a couple of nice studio monitors
My TV's audio aux was making weird noises, so I got this box to decode the digital output of the TV to a couple of nice studio monitors. The sound is good, and I don't notice any latency.I'm glad I ordered this one with the remote, because my TV's digital output is fixed volume. Before I stumbled on this one, I almost ordered one of those with a knob or without volume control at all. This is inexpensive, and worked for my situation.
