this stuff really works!
I have tried so many ways of killing nut grass but this was the only product that killed it FOREVER. You do have to spray directly at the root which can be a bit painstaking, and it does not work over night. But within about 7 days the weeds turned yellow and just wilted and died. And the best part is, they have NEVER come back.

This product does not work.
One package was open and in another, the granulars were dissolved. I followed the instructions to a tee with no results.

did not work as stated
I have tried different brands, and none of them are effective for nutgrass. The contents are very small and when diluted into a gallon of water does not kill the nutgrass.I applied the product several time on the same plants in the same area, and the grass still grows.Waste of money

I was critical of this product as Round Up would not kill nut grass. I mixed and waited as instructed before application in the high temperatures of a Texas summer. First application showed not effect. Thought it was fertilizer. Second application same. By fourth application noticed plant heads were drying out dying. Seems treatment is multi-application in very hot temperatures but does work after multiple applications. Will wait on next year to fully judge but it did kill plant leaves so far. The truth lies in whether bulb roots are dead as leaves.

Slow but effective results
OCTOBER 2014: First of all, this product really HAS been "Discontinued by Manufacturer". I ordered "Nutgrass Killer" but what I received was a newer formulation called "Nutgrass Killer II". I called the manufacturer, and was told that the original product was banned by the EPA, so this is their reformulated and "safer" product. Then she laughed when I asked her if this new product would kill nutgrass, and she said that "nothing really gets rid of nutgrass, it just slows it down". I have a large yard so I mixed and sprayed 3 packages of this stuff with a spreader sticker, then sprayed it. That was in mid September. It is now one month later, and about 20% of the sprayed nutgrass appears completely dead. Another 50% is brown around the edges, and 30% looks just as healthy as ever. I probably won't be able to tell until spring whether the actual nuts are killed, as nutgrass goes dormant in winter. Perhaps I need more applications next spring. I am not thrilled with the results, but frankly this is one of the only things that has helped rid my yard of nutgrass. The other thing that worked, but is very labor intensive, is to put down weed cloth everywhere, and add 3 inches of mulch, which is not really an option in the middle of my lawn.I'll come back and give it more stars if, in the spring, much more of the nutgrass is gone from my yard.UPDATE - MAY 2015: my previous review was from October. It is now May, 7 months late, and I am upgrading this product from 2 stars to 4 stars. It took a lot of waiting, but the nutgrass is definitely much less in the areas that I sprayed. It is definitely not gone, but maybe 70% to 80% less than before I sprayed last year. That is a HUGE improvement. Nutgrass goes somewhat dormant in Southern California during winter, so it was hard to tell at first how effective the product was. But now that it is spring, I can definitely see an improvement. I am now applying another round of this product for a different area of my yard that I didn't spray last summer. I have been battling nutgrass in my yard for around 20 years, and so far, only this product, or laying down hardware cloth seem to make any sort of dent in the amount of nutgrass we have.

works great.
This product completely kills nut grass. Expensive, but it works and thats all I want. I put a new round on the nutgrass that I had missed previously, and I am confident it will work again.

Expensive But Tough
Nutgrass is tough -- this is tougher! If you have lots of nutgrass, buy two bags and get rid of it. Didn't harm my lawn.

It worked really well - let the nut grass grow ...
It worked really well - let the nut grass grow above the other lawn grass, sprayed it on the leaves, didn't mow for a couple of days and the nutgrass has gone. Expensive but effective - the only thing I've found that works.
