Gibson Elite Mariani 16 Piece Dinnerware Set, Taupe

I bought these in both the teal and taupe colors. Our plan is to actually paint our cabinets similar colors and most of our breakfast room and kitchen decor falls along this color scheme with accents of copper. When I first ordered them, I got two boxes of the teal dishes. One box contained broken dishes so it was returned. Because the teal dishes are about twice the cost of the taupe, I decided to mix and match the colors. I’m so glad I did! The colors look beautiful and complement each other well!My fiancé and I are very concerned with healthy eating and the large plates we had before made it too easy to overeat. As other reviewers have stated, the plate has a deep dip in it making it more like a large shallow bowl than a dinner plate, but I actually like that since it forces you to see the plate as full with less food on it.The bowls are a bit disappointing. I ended up purchasing two handmade noodle bowls from a Potter in a similar color for any cereal/soup/noodles that we may desire since the bowls are really better suited for things like side salads. The mugs are HUGE, which I like since I enjoy drinking tea.So far, the dishes have stood up well in the dishwasher. They are quite heavy earthenware, which I prefer for everyday dishes. They have heft and weight to them that make them feel sturdy and long-wearing. If you have small children, I would be cognizant that they may not be able to easily carry or hold these dishes. They are too heavy for that, but they will probably last due to this.Overall, I’m supremely happy with my purchase. I did purchase another set after returning one of the other two, so I clearly like them! I would recommend for anyone looking for something durable and attractive.

I love the color and style especially of the mugs and bowls. The plate just has a wide lip and doesn’t have enough room for food.

I seldom write reviews, however always buy based on reviews. I thought I would share how much I love these dishes. I would describe them as rustic in the sense that each one is a little different in the way they are made. They have an imperfection that make them rustic looking. The color blue is beautiful. They are well suited for men or women, my husband and I love them as they match our rustic nautical theme in the house. The best part is the coffee cups are huge. Really heavy and large scale. The bowls are a little shallow, so I ordered a set of noodle bowls in a very similar color to add to the collection. The large plates dip down allowing your food to not slide off and also not to overload your plate. We really are enjoying these new dishes. 5 stars all the way.

The plates are more like big soup bowls. They don’t sit well in the dishwasher either.

These resemble some hand-thrown pieces I was given 34 years ago, so I took a chance when I saw the amazing sale price.I love the wide flanges and deep profiles of these pieces, and they are wonderfully heavy (hence two stars for "light weight", above). The wide flanges allow you to put these in the microwave, blast your food piping hot, and then the wide flanges are cool enough for you to pick up your food without heavy potholders. I immediately ordered a second set for the same price, after living with the first set for a day.

I loved the first 4 piece set I ordered which was blue with grayish circles. On receiving my shipment, I immediately ordered a second set of 4. The problem was the second set was turquoise covered with specks. I expected some variation but they don’t match at all. I didn’t return because I had no guarantee that I would get another set that matched the first. Just sayin’ order at the same time to increase chance that the sets will match.

This dinnerware is beautiful. Nice color and great style. The only problem that I have with it is that 2 plates are cracked and one cup is cracked. I’m very disappointed because I really love this dinnerware.

These were purchased for my sons new home. They are excellent quality and a beautiful neutral color. The style of the plates is more like a large shallow dish. We love them because you can’t load your plate with food. But something to consider if you prefer a traditional flat style plate. Arrived quickly and well packaged.
