A good journal book
The pages in this journal are thick, enabling me to use both sides; however, these are not 100% cotton, and cockle (warp) with lots of watercolor. Seems better for watercolor pencils.

My favorite sketchbook
I would highly recommend this product for graphite, colored pencils, ink, gouache and watercolor. The quality of the paper is really nice. I mostly use it for watercolors, and it gives me everything I need for my quick sketches. I would advice to not do heavy layering on it, since it will peels. The paper does warp as well. But these things do not bother me in a sketchbook. I love the amount of pages it has. I got the olive green color and it is just beautiful. The clear pocket in the back comes in real handy. The only thing I would make notice of is that the elastic band that holds the book together when closed, deteriorates over time. It becomes loose and some of the elastic pieces will come off. This happened to my watercolor sketchbook from the same brand as well, so I see it is a general issue. But again, it doesn't really bother me. I love this book, and I will definitely purchase it again once I use it all up.

Still My Go-To Sketchbook for Drawing & Painting on the Go!
I've been using the Travelogue Hand•Book journals long before they were bought by Speedball. But, even now, they continue to be my go-to sketchbook for loose drawing, painting, and collage. The paper has a good tooth to it for drawing with pencil, charcoal, pastel, or even Crayons. It's thick and porous enough to handle light multimedia and water-based paints.I use markers, watercolors, gouache, and Posca markers without any issue. Yes, there is some bleedthough with Sharpies and heavier washes of ink, so knowing the limitations is helpful (same with any other sketchbook). The cover is a nice, canvas-like material and there's a scrap pocket in the back. I rate these sketchbooks very high and have them in various sizes.I hope this review is helpful! Cheers!

I had been looking everywhere!
I used to buy cloth covered sketchbooks from the bargain bin at Barnes & Noble and then they discontinued them! I was sooo happy to find these. They're just the right size and fit right into my mini backpack. I like to draw on the covers which is why I like the fabric.

I would definitely recommend for someone looking for a high quality sketchbook for watercolor, brushes pens, etc. No bleeding through the paper.

Fantastic Little Book
I really like the feel of this little sketchbook! Ive been using it as my on the go sketchbook for the park, work, or anywhere I feel like sitting down to doodle. The cover is a nice fabric and the paper holds my favorite markers (water based) and inking pens (usually shows through paper) very well with no bleeding or showing through the back. a little smaller than i originally thought but turned out to be the perfect size i needed. definitely going to be a repurchased item (enjoy snail doodles)

Beau format

Versatile, tough little sketchbook
I got this sketchbook after trying out several other kinds over the years and ended up keeping each one for a specific kind of drawing or painting, which meant that if I wanted to do a quick watercolour, or ink drawing, and didn't have the right sketchbook with me, that drawing/painting was over before it began. Moleskine sketchbooks were ok for ink, but flopped under light washes and more, etc. This book can take a pretty heavy approach to watercolour without buckling, is smooth enough for pens and ink brushes, and textured enough for some nice pencil drawing. The paper is thick enough so that ink won't bleed through, and won't "drink" ink like its past closing time.My only complaint with the book, and it might just be my copy, is that the plastic envelope at the back has caused an impression on the last 10 pages or so, where the book has been pressed flat - perhaps during storage or shipping, or maybe as part of manufacture. Also, the imprint of another book's elastic closure band can be seen in the front cover. However, its easy to overlook this; ironing might help.

Exacly what I was looking for
I've been looking for a good sketchbook for ages. I think that every artist has a likes and dislikes to different materials and for me, I am really picky about types of paper. I tried out moleskine sketchbooks sometime last year and I loved the style and binding but the paper was way too smooth for me. This sketchbook has the perfect tooth, not too smooth, not too rough. I had seen some fellow artists use Journal Co. sketchbooks and I searched everywhere for it! The 5.5x5.5 inch square is perfect for me and is a unique shape, perfect for carrying around. There's a pocket at the back of the book which is actually plastic, so it is a lot more durable than paper ones. The orange ribbon used for a page marker is really nice (orange being my favorite colour) and goes really well with the blue cover. The elastic the keeps the book shut is very strong, like really strong - I had so much in the plastic pocket that the book was bulging open but the strap kept it together perfect and didn't even stretch! The material on the cover is really nice and gives a perfect finishing touch. When I was searching for my 'perfect' sketchbook, I really wanted one that had a lot of pages, so that I could fill it up and so that the sketchbook was more bulky and not flat. I love the thickness of the paper, it isn't too thick and it isn't too thin - just right. It feels so easy to draw in, I think I've had it for a few weeks and I think I've used half of it so far, thinking of all those pages! Over all, this is the best sketchbook I've used yet! Definitely going to buy another!
