Even though this book was written years ago, it is still a very good source for learning, as well as to be used as reference material. Marina Orellana provides many examples of the do's and don't's of English to Spanish translation. She also provides examples of poor translations, followed by better or correct ones. The first part of the book covers what translation is and what it takes to be a translator. In the second part she dives into vocabulary in general. This part can be used as reference material even by long-standing translators, while it will be an incredible source for students and beginners alike. The third part covers narration, while the fourth and last part covers other aspects of translation, such as business vs. diplomatic translation. Since the author's experience is mostly with organizations such as the United Nations, she still provides rich information for other fields and areas. I would also keep in mind that she could be influenced by his land of origin, Chile. Therefore, I would still advise those using her book as a reference for their own work to make sure that they are taking into consideration localization for their appropriate audience. Either way and most definitely, this book has been money well spent. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

very well written, great guide for aspiring translators. It is a small book, but it packs a lot of key information.

This is an excellent book for translators. I read it when I started as a translator almost twenty years ago about and gave me useful and practical data.
