Woo doggy, talk about finger lickin good!
My significant other thinks that he is a BBQ master, I havn't had the heart to tell him that truely, 10% of what he BBQs comes out good. He likes to experiment with his own sauces (mostly beer, and a little bit or worcestershire), and always comes up with some weird side dishes that are kind of gross.In order to encourage his fledgeling interest and guide him towards a more tasty way, I purchased this book for him. Well, more for myself but...you get the point!At first he was a little hurt, but then I made the Mac n' Cheese shepherds pie, encompassing everything that he loves: meat, cheese, tabasco. He was skeptical, but ended up loving it and brought the leftovers to work to show off to all of his friends. The next night, we had chicken and andouille and peppers; he loved that even more, and he was sold on the book, read it front to back, and began testing out other recipes that he thought sounded good. We have loved everything so far, we've tried almost everything! I am particularly impressed by the side dishes - the cajun corn is amazing! I also like that they encompass a lot of new things for us - red bell peppers and other veggies especially.We both now LOVE this book (me, especially). We have made almost every recipe out of it.However, the true gem in this book is the cooking instruction, and the sauces and rubs.It has a whole directory on how to cook different cuts of meat on the grill (HALLELUJAH!) and on the stovetop, what to cook it in, etc. And the sauces and rubs, hello! The mutha sauce is absolutely amazing and we now make it by the pound and put it in everything. The red rub is amazing. The creole seasoning is fantastic!We LOVE these recipes because as novice cooks, they are easy to follow and outline exactly what you need to do and exactly when to do it. And even if you make an opps, it's salvageable because regardless it's gunna taste good.Finally, there's tons of fun quotes and pictures in it....who doesn't like some entertainment when cooking?Overall, it's the best cookbook that I've EVER found. There is not one recipe that we havn't liked so far!

If The Airport Is So Safe, Why Do They Call It The Terminal?
I recently flew into the Rochester, NY, airport and strolled over to the Hertz counter to pick up my car. When I got there, two travelers and an agent were talking about the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in downtown Rochester. The travelers couldn't wait to get there and the agent assured them that it was just as good as always.Oh Boy! Was I glad that we went. I took 12 people out for dinner Sunday night and we were all blown away by the food and atmosphere. On arrival I was immediately approached by John, their 6' 7" head of security, who informed me that he was going to keep an eye on me as well as the other riff-raff in the crowd. Thus began our adventure.After a tremendously tasty dinner of large proportions, we stopped by the gift area to pick up one of their cook books. Turns out it was closed on Sunday night but I could pick one up on Amazon. So I ordered one and am now hip deep in it. For starters, it is an attractively put together book. The history of the two restaurants (Syracuse and Rochester) is explained as well as the different ways to cook bar-b-que at home. After that appear about 100 great recipes that sure look like the meals we were served. The recipes are well-explained and easily duplicated. As always, your cooking equipment, expertise, and the quality of your chosen ingredients will greatly affect your results.So what you have here is an attractive, well-written, entertaining, and reasonably priced cook book that presents 100 tried and true great meals in an easy to understand format. If you love bar-b-que, you'll love this book. And don't forget to visit the restaurants if you in are in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Wow!
Years ago, I lived in Syracuse and greatly enjoyed eating at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. When I moved away, I purchased their cookbook hoping to recreate some of their great dishes at home.Wow! This is a phenomenally written cookbook. Everything I have tried from the Ropa Vieja (my personal favorite) to the Ten-Spice Strip Steak to the Bar-B-Que Beans to the Roasted Garlic and Chile Crusted Pork Loin has come out absolutely perfect.This is a cookbook filled with easy-ish to prepare recipes that utilize fairly common grocery store ingredients. You have the option to make your own sauces (which I recommend) or purchase their bottled, recommended substitutes to make the recipes come together even quicker. There are full-color pictures of most of the prepared dishes as well, so you have a good idea what everything should look like. While this is obviously a BBQ cookbook with grilling directions, most recipes can also be recreated on the stovetop and in the oven as well.I would recommend Dinosaur Bar-B-Que: An American Roadhouse for everyone (except vegetarians and vegans, of course) and would certainly repurchase if my copy were lost.

Excellent Cook Book
I have been to a couple of Dinosaur BBQ locations, & the recipes in this book are spot on to the Food you receive in the Restaurant's!!!Excellent addition for anyone who has a Smoker as well as Awesome recipes alone can make.

Dieses Buch ist richtig gut! Angenehm zu lesen, gute Background - story und coole Rezepte. Ich war schon mal da und habe einiges gekostet, mit diesen Rezepten kriegt man es daheim genauso gut hin!
