Very impressive drill: great torque and power
Having owned several drills over the past 50 years (all but two corded), I am very impressed with the Makita cordless drill, especially its ratio of power and torque to its light weight. Easy to handle and maneuver. Love the 1/2 inch chuck that holds the bits firmly. For its price, you cannot go wrong with this machine. Look no further. It's a super tool for DIY folks. Uncertain about its durability, though, for heavy construction work 300 days a year. It's perfect for me.

Great DIY drill
Just purchased my second Makita XFD131 drill.Initially, bought this to drill holes in ceiling joists that were being bolted together. There wasn't a lot of space to fit both the drill and drill bit. This drill is smaller than most, so it fit the tight spaces. And with a Diablo drill bit it went through old and new wood with ease. Also works great driving in 4" wood screws.

Good piece of equipment
This is a must have for me to keep in my car. Used it just a few days ago when I went out to my car and realized I had a flat tire. I was able to inflate the tire so that I could drive to the tire store to have it properly repaired.

Best drill portable drill I've used so far
So far I'm about 3 months into it. Loving the battery life and the sensitivity of the torque control via the dial and the trigger. It's also REALLY powerful on the drill setting and has a nice click to stop when u have it on a lower setting to prevent over-screwing.The only thing it's missing is a magnetic little platform for the screws and bits like my ryobi had. This has a much better feel than my previous Ryobi. I also got the drill with the larger battery so it's been great!I believe I got thru brick with drill as well with the masonry bit, although it doesn't have the hammer feature (so I prefer to use a plugged in hammer drill.)Anyways, 5-stars drill! Top quality!

I love Makita drill/drivers; I hate Makita batteries
I picked this brushless drill up for a pretty good price on sale. I have both a brushed Makita LXT drill, and a brushed Makita LXT impact driver. In addition, I have a Dewalt brushed drill and a brushed Dewalt impact driver.Cutting to the chase, I love the weight and balance of the Makita drills and impact drivers. I have arthritis in my hands, and have had surgery removing the bones in my thumbs. The Makita drills and impact drivers (older brushed or this brushless) feel comfortable and don't hurt my hands. In addition, the clutches and chucks on the Makitas all just work great.By comparison, the Dewalts are slightly heavier, the clutches a bit noisier, and the chucks are not as good. In particular, the Dewalts have an issue where bits loosen in the chuck if you just spin the bit tight in the chuck by pulling the trigger til tight. If you do not then manually grab the chuck and tighten further on the Dewalt, the bit will loosen. This does not happen with this or my other Makitas. So, the Makita batteries. First, they are just too expensive. The expense of replacement batteries is why I started looking at Dewalt drill/drivers. In addition, the reason I have multiple Makita drills is that it was cheaper to buy the kit for the battery and get the charger and drill for free than it was to just buy the battery alone. That plan seemed to work until I found that the new Makita LXT tools and batteries are not interchangeable in all cases with the older LXT tools and batteries; and if I recall properly the chargers are not compatible as well.So I am left with this dichotomy - I love Makita drills and drivers while I hate Makita batteries. I think I am going to look into rebuilding Makita batteries with new cells.
