Too hard, cracks in the blade
Nice heavy blade and indeed it is Damascus but it’s so hard it’s difficult to get one of the holes enlarged to accommodate a 1/4 brass pin. I’m am luck to work in a shop that does some fabrication of titanium and managed to get a larger hole after some trial and error. Not sure as of your if it can be easily sharpened. That could make it a deal breaker. In addition I am coming back to edit my review to don’t buy from this company, as I was half way through putting a handle on it I noticed a couple very fine cracks in the steel. I guess you get what you pay for, spend a little more and get something better. Truly disappointing as the handle turned out nice, I’d of asked for my money back if I’d noticed sooner,

There are (7) small holes that are a go from the right side with 0.010" pin gauge, but due to unchafered peening, some are 0.104" from the left side.The (1) large hole is a 0.250" go with a pin gauge.The thickness varies in the untapered area from 0.154" to 0.164".The width and length are 1.325" x 9.312".The weight is 6.14 ouncesThe protecting coating did not come off with Alcohol. I thought it might be wax and tried Ammonia. That did not work. Citrasolv with a toothbrush followed by Alcohol on a toothbrush, rinse repeat, got it clean enough for epoxy bond to handles.
