History without an axe to grind
I liked that this book did not totally exonerate or condemn either of the two divided parties in Chile (those who revere Allende or Pinochet). It has much more info than my 16 year old needed for his Geography class but I was interested in reading it.

History of Chile book
This is a concise, well-written and comprehensive history of Chile, one of the America's oldest democracies until the 1973 military coup. It provides an interesting overview of the country's complex history. In the account of the country's return to democracy following the 1973 coup, it presents a fair, balanced treatment.

A Complex and Beautiful Country
For such a narrow country, Chile offers so many surprises. It's rich history, diverse people, and stunning natural beauty leave one wondering why the country has remained such a secret to much of North America.
