Trevor Wye Practice Book for the Flute: Volume 1 - Tone Book Only

I have owned this book and used it for over 20 years- unfortunately the person I loaned it to never returned it and being a friend, ordered a replacement. Too many important exercises to not own it again!

Several experienced flutists recommended this book. I've been playing on and off for eons but had never stumbled upon it. After less than a week using this book, the improvement in my tone is remarkable. It's a lovely read as well. If the idea of sounding "purple" or "yellow" appeals to you, get this book. Even if it doesn't, get this book. If it helps you half as much as it's helped me, you'll be quite pleased.

I love these exercises. I've picked my flute back up after a few years of not playing, so my tone has been inconsistent and disappointing. When I was a student, it seemed that the focus was on getting a piece of music mastered, without much attention paid to achieving a clean sound. This is wonderful - it's helping me slow down and perfect my tone, and I'm already seeing improvement after just a few days.

This book was recommended by an online blog that I trusted and I am very thankful that I purchased it. When I start getting discouraged about my progress with the flute, I open this book and practice long tones on the low register, the middle register and the high register. And when I am done, I am back to thinking....I may just learn how to play this beautiful instrument yet!!

I bought the used book for my daughter to continue building on her flute skill. The content is great and helps her practice and improve a lot on her tones.

Don't be fooled by the simple exercises! This book delivers results if the directions are followed. I'm only a couple pages into the book, but my lower register has gotten a lot stronger in just a couple weeks. As the author says, "it's all a question of time, patience, and intelligent work".

Used this book for years now, I have the full 1 through 6 book but got the first book individually for a friend. Introduces low mid and high registers. Tone colours and how to approach both. Great excerpts to practise as well

Practising is never anyone's favourite part of learning an instrument but this is a really useful book with good variety of exercises.
