Where People Fly and Water Runs Uphill: Using Dreams to Tap the Wisdom of the Unconscious

The method works; book ties together dozens of ideas
Having read the book with care, and having experienced the author live, I can and will testify that, for the group in which I participated, the processs works, and the book fairly represents the process. All dreams that can be remembered ultimately do seem "to come in the service of health and wholeness." Taylor-style Dreamwork combines a form of intimacy with respectful distance, because only by looking deep within "as if it were my dream" can a group member have anything to say about someone else's dream. So, each dream belongs to each member of the group -- in individual versions. This process is illustrated, with huge quantities of theoretical material tantalizingly presented. Quoting Taylor again, "I am a fanatic because I am convinced from 30 years experience. Don't take my word for it. I am the circus barker outside the tent, touting the wonders of 'Jo-Jo the Dog Faced Boy.' Come inside the tent and see for yourself." I agree. The book conveys more of the flavor of the live experience than one would think possible.

Health & healing through dreams - 4 & 1/2 stars
This is one of the most accessible books on dream work that I've read -- and by "accessible" I don't mean dumbed down, because there's insight & intelligence in these pages, born of decades working with dreams. The emphasis here is on dream work in a group setting, exploring & explaining the advantages of this particular process, while warning against some of the potential pitfalls, especially for the inexperienced & ego-driven. Taylor places his focus on the healing aspect of dreams, sometimes edging a little too closely toward New Age thinking for my taste -- but that in no way invalidates the material he presents. He's quite open about his own personal preferences & even prejudices, and doesn't pretend to be all-wise & all-knowing. So the reader has a clear-eyed picture of what to expect going in, which I respect. For anyone who values the wisdom & self-knowledge to be found in dreams, this is an excellent resource; for anyone who doubts that dreams mean anything, this might just change your mind. Taylor comes across as warm, caring, and experienced in such work -- just the sort of guide you'd want when venturing into the universe of the Unconscious. While he provides plenty of background & theory, this is above all a practical, hands-on book. Recommended!

I have read other books about dream interpretation, but ...
I have read other books about dream interpretation, but I was still dissatisfied with my ability to understand my own dreams. Then I happened to read this book, and all the pieces of the puzzle came together. I think that this is probably the most influential and helpful nonfiction book I have ever read in my life, and over the decades I have read tons of books. This is a groundbreaking book, and deserves ten stars, not five.

Very good read
I first bought this book years ago. I keep giving away my copies as gifts. I've reread it several times each getting more from this book. The other books written by this author are good but this is the best. I love dreams, and this book has given me more insight into my dreams then just the usual associations. Like the author, I think each dream tells us something we need to know.

New concepts and experience of Dreamwork.
I had originally bought this book in 1993 when I had taken a course from Jeremy Taylor. It contains a development of his original book Dreamwork. I had lent the book out, and now needed a new copy. It's indispensible to understand Jeremy Taylor's continuing experience with Dreadwork.

Lable/rate books accurately
Book arrived as described, however, the "very good"designation labeled by the seller, is misleading and incorrect! Any 'highlighted' book with 'markings' in themargins, should be rated no higher than "acceptable."At ($4.00) the paperback is fair priced.

Requies Some Interpretation, But Gives Good Direction Toward Interpreting Dreams
A little long and round-about for getting to the very meaty stuff at the end.The most beneficial part is at the end where it tells you to take every emotion/verb/person/place/thing in your dream that you can remember and assign its attributive description to the words "part of me." So, if you dream about your father, you might try "authoritative part of me" and retell your dreams doing this. Cleared up some major recurring dreams for me!
