Gray Areas: Finding Truth When Life Isn't Black and White (Member Book)

Great Study, but Unnecessary Leader Kit
I enjoyed facilitating this Bible study. It covered a lot of hot button topics in our world today. However, I feel that the Leader Kit is relatively unnecessary. The book you receive with the leader kit is identical to the participant guide. There are no extra notes or suggestions for leaders. The DVD pack is the videos for each week's lesson and a media guide. If you want the use the media information provided to promote the Bible study, then you might need the Leader Pack. However, if you don't need the media CD-ROM, then you would be better off just buying an additional participant guide for the leader, and downloading the videos from Lifeway. All the videos and the book bought this way would be much cheaper than buying the Leader Kit. Just a suggestion.

This could be done better and based more on Scripture and on legitimate research ...
Somewhat disjointed and not as much based in Scripture as it is based on Mike Glenn's opinions. The dvd is not extremely dynamic either...just Mike Glenn talking to a group of students standing up and then sitting down. This could be done better and based more on Scripture and on legitimate research out there.

Powerfully Truthful but Sensitive Approach
Excellent and very graceful in his approach to sensitive subjects. I used this material to teach a weekly Internet Bible Study.

Gray Areas is a Great Study for College Students
I'm a college minister that writes the majority of our ministry's bible study material. Many times I will use books or other bible studies to construct lessons or series. I've read some bible studies that seem like they're written about college student problems but written on a child's reading and comprehension level. "Gray Areas" is not that! This book tackles some of the more difficult and controversial tropics that the church is facing right now. The author seems very knowledgeable about current young-adult trends when he writes, and he doesn't use too much "Christianese" (empty Christian speak). While the book starts out slow, it picks up in Section 3 when it starts talking about Addiction. The content remains engaging until the very end of the book. I would recommend this to any other college minister, young adult ministry, or 18-30 year old with questions about Christianity and today's society. Below is a list of more specific PROS and CONS.PROS:+Relates to its audience+Challenging for its readers+Very "to the point" concerning its content+Not too long or too short+Lots of engaging, discussion questionsCONS-Starts out slow in sections 1 and 2-Could discuss more issues in detail (Addiction, Sexual Identity)-Sometimes additional scripture relates just slightly
