A Study of Angels

Overall this is a very good study regarding Angels. Dr. Myers gives their origins and the forms they may or can take and how they can help or interact with humans. He not only delves into the good Angels, but also talks about the fallen Angels. There is a section near the back of the book that asks special questions about Angels and then gives the answers, and the very last chapter deals with Angels in the life of Christ. Overall very informative. The "only" thing I take exception to in the book is in Chapter Six, part one "The Activities of Angels". Dr. Myers writes that there is a distinction which needs to be made between the use of the words miraculous and supernatural. He states the the word miracle is used in many ways that are not found in Scripture and that we are prone to say something is a miracle when something unusual happens. Dr. Myers says it is his understanding of Scripture that God's work through miracles has ceased and while phenomena which occur that can't be explained naturally, God is not working in the miraculous, but in the supernatural. Dr. Myers believes the work of angels is the supernatural work of God and is not limited to God's miraculous work. Hmmmmm. So if a person is lying in Hospice, eat up with cancer and given only days or weeks to live, but is totally and completely healed, Dr. Myers wants me to believe that was a strictly a supernatural event and not a miracle. My dictionary says a "miracle" is an event or action that apparently contradicts known scientific laws and is hence thought to be due to supernatural causes, esp. to an act of God. The definition of "supernatural", existing or occurring outside the normal experience or knowledge of man; not explainable by the known forces or laws of nature; specif. of involving, or attributed to God or a god, or of, involving, or attributed to ghosts, spirits, the occult etc. Also, nowhere does he give Scripture to back up this claim that God no longer works in the realm of miracles, but in the supernatural through angels. I believe Dr. Myers is putting limitations upon what God can or will do and I don't believe that you can really separate the two works between the supernatural and miracle. In other words, if a miracle occurs, it is a supernatural event. Perhaps nitpicking on my part, but I took umbrage at his remark that, according to him, miracles are a thing of the past. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, likewise, miracles were done by God in the past, by Jesus in the past, by the prophets, and disciples in the past and they can and most certainly do happen even today.

This book is a great book but it’s so disgustingly damaged I’m going to throw it away. It was suppose to be like new!

I should probably rate it 4 stars, but can seem to do so. The questions at the end of each section are good. It helps you find answers. Some of it is just the topic, but there are a few opinions that are offered that are hard to substantiate. However, he does tell you this, that they are opinions and not a matter of fact. Some sections under "activities" and elsewhere are someone redundant from what is said before. Otherwise, this is a good guide and explains a lot of topics and misconceptions about angels.

I was so pleased to find my book on Amazon. This was a book I had used in a study almost 9 years ago so I had anticipated difficulty in finding it at all or finding one in such good condition. Not only did I find the book in like new condition, but I was able to order it and have it arrive within just a few days. The entire order was easy and just what I needed.

This is the best, most accurate book on angels, that I have ever read. Easy to compare to the Bible. I have bought one for each of my grown children. I think I should start buying for my grand children now!

A Study of Angels Great study book to use with a group and it has thought-provoking questions at the end of each chapter. I first ordered this from a company that lists itself on Amazon and it took way too long to receive! I then ordered it through Amazon and received the books I needed within days! My recommendation is to always use Amazon and not the other listed companies!

Excellent. Very clearly written. You don't have to be a PHD to understand what Myers is saying. I learned a lot and enjoyed it
