The waterproof layer is only on the top so when fitted on the mattress the edges and sides of mattress are still vulnerable to liquid spills. The waterproof layer worked for my nightime potty training toddler. I have washed it 2 times and then air dried it. Washed up good no tears or piling..takes a little longer to dry. It will only protect top layer from pee or liquid spills. It fits nicely. Since it doesnt cover the whole mattress like a zippered one I dont know if it will help against dust mites and bed bugs. Overall I find it a little pricey .

This is a great product. Just bought a new mattress and I bought a cheap mattress protector for it. It felt like plastic and was very uncomfortable. Bought this as a replacement and it was an improvement in every aspect. I rated it 9.5 because I suppose i was expecting it to be completely quiet and not feel like plastic. The noise is still there and the plastic feeling is as well. It is greatly reduced and I suppose my own expectation is what docked points. Overall, it is still a great product and, more importantly, I would still recommend this product. I did test with water and it is definitely water resistant.

This mattress protector is not waterproof. My son often ends up in our bed with us at night and he occasionally has an accident. I wanted to protect our very expensive gel memory foam pad underneath it and it did not work! It soaked the memory foam that I am not able to clean. Buyer Beware! Does not work!

I bought this to protect my mattress. I tested the protector sheet by pouring a little bit water on it, it is amazing that the water didn’t went through. Also it is very easy to clean.

Works great! We have a 3 year old so when he gets sick or has an accident it keeps the liquid from going though to the mattress. We don’t even notice it’s there, we put a sheet over the top

When this mattress cover arrived I was skeptical as the box was only 3 inches thick. The mattress cover is MUCH thinner than I expected. It has a terry cloth top with a plastic back, very thin. To test it, I poured a 3 oz cup of water on one spot to simulate wetting the bed. The water puddled for a minute, then it disappeared into the cover. I checked underneath, and it was completely dry. The top was damp but not soaked if that makes sense. It’s easy to put on a mattress, and for the hot summer months shouldn’t add heat to the bed. The cover is also very soft and quiet. This is a good one to have around in case you have kids or pets that can wet the bed.
