Real-Resumes for Social Work & Counseling Jobs Paperback – April 9, 2012

I am a social worker. There are no resume books out there specifically for the social work profession. When I saw this book on Amazon.com I thought it would be helpful for social workers who need help in creating a resume. What a disappointment and waste of money this book turned out to be. It is for those who are transitioning from the social work/counselor field to other non-related fields. What a misleading title. The author should be ashamed of herself for giving the book such a title. I'm so pissed off for buying this book. I'm pissed at myself for not fully checking it out (I guess I let my exciting get the best of me when I saw the title, thinking it's for people who are in the profession and looking for a new job within the profession). The author should just the crappy book's title to "real resumes for social workers/counselors who want to leave the profession." DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK if you are in the social work/counseling field and looking for a job within the profession. The book is a waste of money.

Bought for my daughter who's in a social work program. Great range of examples and cover letters, but the conceptual piece on how to write your own was too brief.

Honestly, I am not impressed with this book. I got it in hopes of bettering my resume BUT all it is is a collection of various resumes. You can find the same information online for free. I rarely leave a review that is lower than 3 stars, but I don't feel like this book was helpful at all to me in particular.

This is a great resource for new/furture Social Work majors. The examples were very helpful and easy to follow. A must I feel for any Soical Work major.

Like one of the other reviewers, I am quite disappointed in this book, and I really wish that I hadn't waited so long that now I cannot return it. Perhaps the problem was my expectation. I assumed that in addition to actual resumes that there would be guidance on how to write a "counselor" resume. There is not:-(

I found everything I was looking for by reading this book. It made the writing of my resume very easy. It was easy to follow and I liked all the examples given.

This book is wonderful....I am changing careers and it has assisted me in creating a wonderful resume!
